This TV photo today -- on January 27th in 2026 -- shows U. S. President Donald Trump far from Washington in Iowa where he held a news conference touting his economy. On a day when war-like turmoil in the U. S. and in the world dominates the headlines, one of the first questions the media in Iowa asked him today was, "Now that you have changed the political regime in Venezuela, is Cuba next?" His answer included this exact sentence: "Cuba will be failing soon."
And today -- on January 27th, 2026 -- all the top U. S. and worldwide Cuban Headlines suggest that this month will finally be the last full month for the historic 67-year-old Cuban Revolution. As the headlines above indicate, it turns out that the final straw for the revolution came this week when Mexico became the last nation to turn its back on the Caribbean's largest and most vulnerable island-nation.
Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum had bravely been the last international leader to try to keep the Cuban Revolution afloat by sending vital shipments of oil to the direly sanctioned/blockaded/EMBARGOED island. Not surprisingly, as shown above, President Sheinbaum said that Mexico's decision to stop sending the much-needed oil to Cuba was a "sovereign decision," meaning that she didn't cave in to "U. S. pressure." But, of course, she did.
Mexico and Claudia Sheinbaum deserve credit for being the last nation not to abide with the dictates of the U. S. economic blockade/EMBARGO of Cuba. On the southern border of the U. S., Mexico is also a massive trade partner with the world's economic giant. All nations must recognize that incomparable financial power.
The two prime international economic/miliary competitors for the United States are China and Russia, and both are purported to be key supporters of Cuba. But that "support" -- despite the images this week shown above -- is more talk than reality.
On the first day of January in 1959, Fidel Castro's Cuban Revolution shocked the world by overthrowing Cuba's powerful dictator Fulgencio Batista who was supported by the Mafia, the world's most powerful criminal organization, and by the United States, the world's most powerful nation. The Cuban Revolution itself was expected to be overthrown in short order, maybe just a few days. Yet, it has ruled Cuba for 67 years -- from January of 1959 till January of 2026. But, yes, it appears that January of 2026 will be the last full month for the Cuban Revolution.
Usually with something akin to a 187-2 vote, the United Nations and all the top internation human rights organizations, such as Oxfam, yearly vote for Cuba's Right to live without a Blockade." Yet, usually supported only by the U. S. and Israel in the UN, the blockade/embargo of Cuba, has endured since 1962. Now at the end of January in 2026, a combination of factors, including the blockade, will likely finally prevail.
In January of 1959, after the victory by the Cuban Revolution, many of ousted dictator Batista's key political cohorts flocked quickly to nearby Miami. Thus Little Havana quickly emerged and since 1959 rich and politically powerful Cubans in Miami Little Havana have led the U. S. effort to overthrow the Cuban Revolution.
But it was in January of 2026 that apparently Miami Little Havana finally got the last nail it needed to seal the Cuban Revolution's coffin. That's because Miami Little Havana-born Cuban-American Marco Rubio in January of 2026 took over as the USA's first Secretary of State in charge of America's relations with other nations, including Cuba. As Secretary of State, Marco Rubio has the power to orchestrate a regime change in Cuba and it is likely that event is about to happen.
