A Cuban media perspective not from Miami!!

US-Cuba: Two Nations. Close Enemies.

Today on Saturday, April 25th, 2026 the two top national and international Cuban Headlines are from USA Today, the USA's national newspaper, and the London-based Reuters News Agency. USA Today says that in the U. S. two-party political system that: "Democrats try to blunt Trump in Cuba -- before it's too late" and Reuters says that war-torn "Russia vows to help Cuba withstand US 'blackmail and threat.'"
But, actually, there is one journalist who regularly walks the streets of Miami, Tampa, New York City, Havana, etc., and reports fairly on even the most sticky US-Cuban issues, both historic and topical. Her name is Liz Oliva Hernandez.

In the superpower United States the media since 1959, the year the Cuban Revolution overthrew the U.S.-backed dictator Fulgencio Batista, has almost only published the perspectives of anti-revolutionary Cubans who created the rich and politically powerful neighborhood in Miami  known as Little Havana. To this day in late April of 2026 well-known journalists from the Miami Herald, Washington Post, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, etc., grossly distort US-Cuba Relations to massively favor Little Havana Miami Cubans. But Liz Oliva Fernandez spends much time with everyday Cuban families in Cuba and wants their views known also!!
Now through five Episodes of "The War On Cuba, which are available to the world on YouTube, Liz has studied the history as well as the topicality of US-Cuban Relations. And she clearly thinks the perspectives of everyday Cuban women in Cuba for the generations since 1959 have not deserved to be treated so terribly, especially by its superpower northern neighbor that benefited magnificently during the brutal Batista dictatorship in the 1950s prior to the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
Above are peasant families in Batista's Cuba.
Above were Cuba mothers marching in Batista's murderous Cuba.
Above is an ad showing the U. S. love for Batista's Cuba.
Since 1959 all U. S. Presidents, including Donald Trump, have been forced to submit to the Cubans in Little Havana in the heart of Miami in Florida.
While Little Havana Cubans in Miami dictate much of the U. S. Cuban policies and almost all of the media's Cuban coverage, Liz Olivo Hernandez spends much of her time interviewing Cuban women in Cuba who also want to have a voice!!!
By far the most powerful Cuban/Cuban-American in the history of Florida was Mas Canosa. He was born in Santiago de Cuba in 1939.
After the triumph of the Cuban Revolution over Batista in January of 1959, Mas Canosa emerged as easily the richest and most powerful Cuban-American in the United States, not just in Florida. He founded the Cuban American National Foundation that to this day dictates Little Havana-type laws that still rule US-Cuba Relations, now in the closing days in April of 2026. He founded Mas Tec, the massive U. S. company that made him a billionaire. Although he died of lung cancer in Coral Gables in 1997, Mas Canosa will always remain the all-time most powerful and most influential Cuban-American, even if someone like the current Miami-born U. S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio becomes the President of the United States in 2028.
In America's two-party political system, Mas Canosa told Republican Presidents such as Ronald Reagon and Democratic Presidents such as Bill Clinton what to do in regards to Revolutionary Cuba. And Canosa also had the same power with the Congress of the United States. For sure, if the U. S. media has not informed you in the past seven decades how much influence Mas Canosa had over both the Republican and Democratic political parties, then you have simply been conveniently lied to.
FOR EXAMPLE............Little Havana Cubans love the U. S. economic Embargo/Blockade of Cuba that has existed since 1962 even though most Americans and most nations in the world have wanted it ended for the past seven decades!!
The history of the U. S. EMBARGO/Blockade recalls that President John Kennedy was coerced into signing it into law via Proclamation 3447 on February 3rd in 1962. Before he signed the bill he ordered his aide Pierre Salinger to order a large box of his favorite Cuban cigars. Only after the cigars arrived did JFK make Proclamation 3447 legal. OF COURSE, history also tells us that before his presidency ended with his assassination in Dallas on November 22nd in 1963, President Kennedy drastically changed his mind about the EMBARGO/Blockade and many other U. S. policies regarding Cuba. One day, prior to his assassination, an exasperated JFK walked into the Oval Office at the White House and loudly proclaimed, "IF I COULD I WOULD BLOW THE CIA INTO SMITHERINES!!"
The reason we know the truth about President John Kennedy's very historic relations with Cuba is the fact that JFK had five top aides that were notable journalists or historians, including Pierre Salinger. After the JFK assassination in Dallas, those five insightful men wrote books about their time with the murdered President. After the dastardly event, Pierre Salinger spent time in Paris as the journalist for ABC News.

Why Cuba Feels So Alone As the US Noose Tightens

April 22nd in 2026!!

For many years Jamaica has been Cuba's best friend and closest neighbor in the Caribbean and in the world. As headlines in late April in 2026 herald the eminent United States regime change in Cuba, now even Jamaica has bowed to strong pressure from the U. S. to stop supporting Cuba. And that "cave in" has deeply saddened the already sad existence of everyday Cubans on the Caribbean's largest island-nation.
For many years little countries such as Jamaica and big countries such as Italy have thankfully benefited from Cuba's large stable of skilled doctors, all the while trying to defy the ever-tightening seven-decade-old U. S. economic blockade against Cuba that has existed since 1962. The blockade is designed to overthrow Cuba's revolutionary goverment but that has not yet happened although it has recently been sharply tightened by U. S. President Donald Trump and U. S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Born in Miami's Little Havana Florida neighborhood 54 years ago, Marco Rubio has spent his entire adult life trying to overthrow the Cuban Revolution. Groomed as a Florida politician by Little Havana counter revolutionaries such as Havana-born Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Havana-born Carlos Gimenez, etc., Rubio has always pointed a serious finger towards Cuba -- first in the Florida legislature, then in the U. S. Senate, and now as the ultra-powerful U. S. Secretary of State.
In addition to his awesome power as Secretary of State, Marco Rubio also administers the massice United States Agency for International Development, which dishes out massive dollars to selected small nations. That, perhaps, adds to Rubio's massive influence on little nations -- including Cuba's best friend, Jamaica.
The photo above sort of defines U. S.-Cuban Relations since 1959, which was the year the Cuban Revolution overthrew the US/Mafia-backed Batista dictatorship. In this photo U. S. President Donald Trump is doing what every U. S. President since 1959 has done, which is to sign laws that benefit Little Havana Cubans in Miami but are massively harmful to Cubans in Cuba. You may note that, in the signing ceremony shown above, Little Havana superstar Marco Rubio is in the center as he peers over President Donald Trump's shoulders. Whatever was signed into law above, it surely helped Little Havana Cubans and hurt Cubans in Cuba.
I have lived a long life as a pro-democracy American. But I am ashamed that neither the U. S. government nor the U. S. media tells the truth about the two eternal U. S. laws shown above that have, therefore, been shoved down the throats of Americans for decades. The Cuba EMBARGO has shamefully existed since 1962 for the stated purpose, according to declassified U. S. documents, to "starve, deprive, and make miserable" Cubans on the island to induce them to rise up and overthrow their revolutionary goverment. The HELMS-BURTON LAW has existed since 1996 to drastically hurt Cubans on the island and to favor and enrich Cubans in Miami. Yes, the EMBARGO has existed since 1962 and the HELMS-BURTON Law has existed since 1996. And that means that generations of Americans have had neither the courage nor the decency to utter a peep about what this says about their country.
And today -- on April 22nd in 2026 -- we learn that Jamaica, Cuba's close neighbor and best friend, has "caved in" to US/Rubio pressure not to be Cuba's friend. And, of course, since 1959 Americans have been programmed to not utter a peep.

How Is the Media Covering Cuba's "regime change."

 Take a close look!!!
Actually, the journalist best covering the impending "regime change in Cuba" is Liz Oliva Hernandez at Belly of the Beast, She tirelessly walks the streets from Miami to New York City to talk to Cuban migrants but mostly she walks the streets and byways of Havana and other areas in Cuba speaking to Cubans. Her coverage is more precise and unbiased than more renowned media sources...such as the Miami Herald, etc.
Above on April 18th in 2026 are the top Cuban Headlines on major outlets, including the national U. S. newspaper USA Today, Miami Herald, etc. Since 1959 the U. S. media has basically only relied on Havana-born Cubans in Miami, such as the current U. S. Congressman and former Miami Mayor Carlos Gimenez, for their opinions and information related to Cuba.
Well, this is Liz Oliva Fernandez who works for Belly of the Beast in both the U. S. and especailly in Cuba. Her coverage in April of 2026 is, yes, tireless and precise. She spends most of her time with everyday Cuban families, especially the women. But, as shown below, she was also the first to report that Cuba's President Miguel Diaz-Canel said that "Cubans would fight to the death" after word evolved that Miami-born U. S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and President Donald Trump were planning to finally overthrow the Cuban Revolution, which back on January 1st in 1959 overthrew the US/Mafia-backed Batista Dictatorship. Below is some of Liz's updated coverage of President Diaz-Canel in Cuba:
Yes, as shown above, both journalist Liz Oliva Fernandez and Cuban President Diaz-Canel have very different views of things such as the Bay of Pigs than Miami Cubans such as Havana-born Carlos Gimenez, Miami-born Marco Rubio, etc., have. In April of 1961, after a record number of assassinations attempts on rebel legend Fidel Castro, the young U. S. President John Kennedy reluctantly permitted US-trained and supported Cuban exiles headquartered in Miami's Little Havana sanctuary to launch a air, land, and sea military attack to overthrow Castro. History confirms that the CIA and top U. S. military officers convinced Kennedy that Castro would run for his getaway airplane once he heard the U. S. bombs falling on Camp Colombia on the edge of Havana. Well, for sure, Castro heard the bombs falling on Camp Colombia. But he never had a getaway airplane. He raced for his jeep and bolted to the Bay of Pigs where he and his main confidant Celia Sanchez believed the anticipated US/Brigade 2506 ground attack would start. They were correct. From the frontlines, Castro within 72 hours had miraculously and soundly led the defense of Cuba. Later in his presidency a more mature and more knowledgble John Kennedy one famous day walked into his Oval Office and famously & loudly proclaimed, "If I could I would blow the CIA into smitherines!!!" And how, you ask, do we know that? Well, JFK famously had five of America's greatest speech-writers and historians on his presidential staff and it is from them that we know such truths. {You may Google all this information}.
Meanwhile, back to current Cuban News from Liz Oliva Fernandez. As usual,    she reports on Cuban mothers on the island worrying about what the United States has in store for them in April of 2026. Right now they are worried about food shortages, medical deprivations, island-wide energy blackouts, and a U. S. military attack.
And one of the mothers worrying is a Castro.
