Raul Castro Defies Both Age and Miami

 Cuba is still in the Crosshairs.

      At the end of the first week in September in 2026, Raul Castro continues to defy age, Miami, and rumors. At age 95 this week the headlines from both Havana and Miami reported that he was "gravely ill after a stroke." But then, as shown above, on September 6th he headlined a military celebration despite the rmpant "rumors about his health."

      Beaming right behind the smiling Raul Castro today was his beloved grandchild and prime bodyguard Raulito who as emerged a powerful and very forceful leader in Cuba.

       Back on May 20th-2026 the United States, trying to put a final nail on both Raul Castro's coffin and his legacy, indicted him with four murder charges in the shootdowns of two Miami-based Brothers to the Rescue airplanes back in 1996. By now he was supposed to have been tried and found guilty in a Miami/US courtroom. 

     But, with Raulito standing beside him as always, Raul today received yet another award from a little Cuban girl who was showing her pride for Raul as a supreme revolutionary icon.

    The word verdadero means "true." Indeed, Raul Castro is truly beloved as a true and supreme revolutionary hero in Cuba but in Miami he is truly hated as a first-class villian.

     Miami-born Marco Rubio gives the superpower United States a huge advantage in deciding the love-hate conundrum regarding Raul Castro. That, of course, is because Marco Rubio is now the ultra-powerful U. S. Secretary of State, making him the top U. S. official in the anti-Cuba Trump adminstration in charge of Foreign Afairs. Cuba, still a foreign nation as far as the U. S. is concerned, must survive the wrath of Marco Rubio who, all his adult life, has dreamed of overthrowing the Cuban Revolution. Now, presumably, he has the power to fulfill that dream.

     Yet, at the end of the first week in September in 2026 this photo on September 6th in 2026 shows 95-year-old Raul Castro flanked by his two prime protectors -- his grandson Raultio and Cuba's President Miguel Diaz-Canel. This photo confirms that Raul Castro and the Cuban Revolution, amazingly, still rules Cuba. But, yes, Raul Castro is 95-years-old and powerful Miami Cuban-Americans such as Marco Rubio still hold most of the cards. So, stay tuned.

Raul Castro Is gravely ill in Havana!!

 

        Today on September 1st in 2026 reports in both Havana and Miami have reported that 95-year-old Raul Castro has suffered a stroke and is gravely ill. Back in May, as the United States severely tightened its already punitive sanctions on Cuba, the U. S. indicted Raul Castro for the murders of four Miami residents regarding a controversial incident in the Caribbean Sea between Miami and Havana thirty years ago. Raul Castro and his older brother Fidel Castro started the Cuban Revolution against US-backed Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista on July 26, 1953, and successfully ended their Revolution on January 1st in 1959. Fidel died at age 90 in Havana in 2016.

Did the explorer Columbus describe Cuba best?

 "The loveliest land human eyes have ever seen."

       The great explorer Christopher Columbus made many historic and epic voyages, including the one that discovered the island of Cuba on October 27, 1492.

   By the time Columbus bedded down on the evening of October 27th in 1492, he wrote this famous sentence: "The loveiiest land that human eyes have ever seen." He was describing the island of Cuba: "The loveliest land that human eyes have ever seen."

       The greatest and most important of America's Founding Fathers was/is Thomas Jefferson. All of his adult life, Mr. Jefferson preached that, if the new United States was to become a great nation, it must obtain and control Cuba!!

        At age 33 in 1776 it was Thomas Jefferson who wrote the United States Declaration of Independence from England. Later as the third President of the United States, and otherwise, he was/is America's Greatest Founding Father. Mr. Jefferson and other Founding Fathers agreed that CUBA was acutely needed by the United States.

     As America's greatest and most important politician, Thomas Jefferson direly craved that the United States needed to possess CUBA!!! For example, Mr. Jefferson wrote the wrods shown above on October 24th in 1823. But while the new United States craved CUBA, the older imperative powers, such as Spain, already had massively craved what the explorer Columbus had told them was "The loveliest land that human eyes had ever seen."

       Actually, the United States war against Spain that was fought in Cuba in 1898 was to wrest control of CUBA from Spain, not to give CUBA freedom from Spain that had long been its colonial master. The emerging United States attacked Spain in Cuba in 1898 because the U. S. knew that Spain had been weakened by fighting and winning two Independence Wars that Cubans had waged against Spain in 1868-1878 and 1895-1898. Those two wars by Cubans tried to win Cuba's freedom but barely failed and yet left Spain's army weak and overly extended in Cuba. The two top U. S. newspaper publishers in New York and the yearning U. S. politicians such as soon-to-be President Teddy Roosevelt knew it was time to attack Spain in Cuba and easily take dominance of Cuba. It was/is called the Spanish-American War in Cuba in 1898, and it is the War that started the United States on the path to becoming the world's Superpower. 

      Yes, although often lied about by biased historians and politicians, the 1898 Spanish-American War in Cuba was an easy victory by the United States over a weakened Spain and it paved the way for the United States to become the World Superpower. The 1898 Spanish-American War should be viewed correctly, not by lies.

    But Cuba's fierce desire for independence spawned Fidel Castro's Cuban Revolution in 1952 and on the first day of 1959 it shocked the world by defeating the U.S.-backed and Mafia-backed Batista Dictatorship. However, since 1959 Cuba's determined fight to maintain Revolutionary control of Cuba has been a daily and David-vs. Goliath struggle for the island on behalf of its Cuban Revolution.

        In all the annals of history no small nation has ever tried so hard and so long to defend itself from a much larger and much stronger foe. Yet, since January of 1959 until the end of August in 2026 Cuba, somehow, has managed to at least survive while being totally surrounded by the nearby United States, which all that time has been the world's economic and military Superpower.

      Cuba, the uniquely "lovely" island that Columbus discovered in 1492, is no longer "the paradise of the Caribbean" as August turns into September in 2026. But it is still ruled by the stubborn Cuban Revolution, and that alone remains remarkably historic. As continuous headlines heading into September of 2026 reveal, the prodigious odds against Cuba remain ongoing and relentless!!!!!!

     Rich and powerful Cuban-Americans in Miami and Washington, now led by the powerful U. S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in September of 2026 or soon thereafter, will be expected to take full control of Cuba. That hope for almost seven decades has filled the dreams of Little Havana Cubans in Miami such as Marco Rubio, and no doubt it is about to end the Cuban Revolution.

     A few months ago, back in May of 2026, U. S. President Donald Trump visited China and had very heralded and cordial private and public discussions with China's President Xi Jinping. Now in a few days, in September of 2026, Trump will host Xi in Washington. For sure, communist China is now the top economic and military competitor facing the United States. That situation is somewhat reminiscent to 1962 when U. S. President John F. Kennedy knew that the communist Soviet Union was the top threat to the United States at a time when the Soviet leader Nikita Khruschev and President John Kennedy were in a dire dispute about CUBA!!! Now in 2026 Trump has loudly proclamed that he wants "to take Cuba" while Zi doesn't want that to happen

        For 13 days in October of 1962 the United States and the Soviet Union and leaders John Kennedy and Nikita Khruschev almost started World War III with Cuba the catalyst. The Cuban Missile Crisis for 13 days in October of 1962 had the whole world trembling because the U. S. and Soviet Union even then had enough nuclear weapons to destroy the whole known world. And remember that was way back in 1962!! Now in 2026 countries such as the United States and China and Russia have nuclear weapons far, far more powerful stockpiles of nuclear weapons than Kennedy and Khruschev had in 1962!!!

Fidel Still Rules Cuba in August, 2026

As Some Cubans Still Savor Fidel's Revolution!!

      The Spanish word "venido" means "come." The photo above shows the day on January 8th in 1959 when Fidel Castro entered Havana as the new leader of Cuba. His Cuban Revolution had just shocked the world by overthrowing the powerful dictator Fulgencio Batista who had been supported by the most powerful nation in the world, the United States, and by the Mafia, the most powerful criminal organization in the world. The three photos shown above are still pertinent today -- on August 15th in 2026 -- because many Cubans in Cuba today are still depending on Fidel Castro, or at least his legacy, to save his direly imperiled Cuban Revolution from being overthrown.

    The severely EMBARGOED/blockaded Cubans on the long-encircled island, as shown above, in August of 2026, are celebrating "100 Years With Fidel." Yes, Fidel Castro was born on August 13th in 1926 in Biran, Cuba, and that was 100 years ago.

      While Fidel Castro died peacefully in Havana at age 90 in 2016, he or his legacy are still considered the best hope in the fight to save Fidel Castro's Cuban Revolution. So, in August of 2026, in Cuba there are posters that say, "Fidel ES UN PAIS" and that means, "Fidel  is a country."

           Under that large poster of Fidel, many Cubans are shown at a meeting in August of 2026 discussing what they intend to do against the threat posed by Miami and Washington counter revolutionaries. They consider it the biggest such threat in the 7-decade rule of Fidel's Revolution.

        Prior to the current threat from the Trump-Rubio adminstration, the Bay of Pigs military attack in April of 1961 was considered the biggest threat to Fidel's Cuban Revolution and, of course, Fidel was again the hero and savior there too.

     And, yes, in August of 2026 Cubans in Cuba are again pointing to Fidel Castro to save their island, just as he did in the Cuban Revolution in 1959, at the Bay of Pigs in 1961, and so MANY other times!! Such legacies are still remembered today!!

      In mid-August of 2026, it is true that many Cubans on the island are thinking of the young Fidel Castro, the rebel who led the Cuba Revolution to victory in 1959 and then repeated that monumental success in 1961 when Cuba was attacked at the Bay of Pigs. Only Fidel, many Cubans still believe, could have accomplished such feats against such overwhelming foes. And now, 100 years after his birth in 1926 and after 10 years since his death in 2016, many Cubans in Cuba believe only Fidel, or his legacy, can save his Revolution. Today much of the world is wondering the same thing.
