But Cuba Does Have Friends!!
In these last days of June in 2026 Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum is one of the most vocal world leaders defying the ever-tightening economic sanctions on the island of Cuba...a devastating Embargo that began almost seven decades ago, in 1962.
And Mexico's President Claudia Scheinbaum also bravely says that, "Cubans in Cuba, not Cubans in Miami, should decide Cuba's fate."
Mexico has now restarted oil shipments to Cuba and also in late June of 2026 one of the top Commanders of the 1959 victory by the Cuban Revolution has died. The legendary General Ramiro Valdes was 94-years-old.
With the death of Ramiro Valdes Menendez at age 94, now there is just one of Cuba's top Revolutionary Commanders still living, and that is 95-year-old Raul Castro.
And now at age 95 in June of 2026 Raul Castro has been indicted by the United States and charged with the murders of four Miami residents related to a tragic event in the Caribbean Sea between Miami and Havana that occurred thirty years ago.
Raul Castro's older brother Fidel Castro died peacefully in Havana at age 90 in 2016, but ONLY after what both U. S. and Cuban historic accounts detail hundreds of assassination attempts Fidel survived -- with many of those attempts orchestrated by Miami Cubans and by the U. S. CIA. And to this very day in late June of 2026 the most important legacy and persona in Cuba is Fidel Castro and the most important living person in Cuba today is the 95-year-old Raul Castro.
Another very important person in Cuba today is Raul Gillermo Rodriguez Castro, the grandson of two revolutionay icons -- Raul Castro and Vilma Espin. Known as Raulito, since he was a teenager he was the prime bodyguard for Raul Castro but beyond that he has evolved into an important person on the island. He is so important, for example, that the U. S. has been having private talks with Raulito regarding the impending regime change that Miami Cubans have craved since January of 1959.
While the U. S. media has little contact with Raulito, he has been open to some of the international media, including the very long and detailed interview below, and he has shown to be very knowledgeable and vocal about US-Cuba relations.
As he displayed in the above interview, Raulito went into sharp detail about Revolutionary Cuba's defensive options that are still trying to stave off the "coercive measures" that Miami and the United States have trageted the island with since 1959.
Meanwhile, U. S. President Donald Trump has informed Cuba and the world that regime change "in Cuba will be easier than in Iran."
And, meanwhile, CUBA wants the EMBARGO ended.
Cuba has also already made drastic "free market" economic changes, such as allowing foreign investment in Cuban businesses including hotels, restaurants, etc.
And Cuba is also abundantly aware that the USA's now ultra-powerful Secretary of State is Miami's own Marco Rubio who has dreamed of overthrowing the Cuban Revolution all of his adult life. Now he has that chance!!
And, meanwhile, Cuba's Revolutionary Flag still waves proudly in the Caribbean breezes wlhile Little Cuba still has the will to defy the Superpower United States.
Even while the U. S. still "threatens" the pugnacious island.
