Today -- March 8th-2022 -- is International Women's Day in a troubled and war-torn world. Revolutionary Cuba, unlike the pre-revolutionary U.S./Mafia/Batista-ruled Cuba back in the 1950s, has corrected the Batistiano-era rule that both ignored everyday Cuban women and brutalized them if they complained.
The U.S. support of Batista's Cuba in the 1950s was because Luciano, LANSKY, and Batista permitted rich U. S. companies to partake in the wholesale rape & robbery of Cuba in exchange for kick-backs and for the superpower USA's support of the Batista regime. Of course, after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution on January 1-1959 the Batistianos quickly and permanently took over Little Havana/Miami and to this day on March 8th-2022 the superpower U. S. government has continued to support Little Havana economically and militarily. In that milieu, Little Havana-Miami has dominated Cuban politics and Cuban narratives in the U. S.; consequently, Americans to this day do not know the Cuban women who dominated the Revolutionary War in the 1950s and who have dominated Revolutionary Cuba since 1959...women such as Haydee Santamaria, Vilma Espin, Tete Puebla, and CELIA SANCHEZ MANDULEY!!!
During the anti-Batista War in Cuba, it can correctly be argued that the primary player was the child-loving/doctor's daughter Celia Sanchez. She was, in fact, the prime recruiter of the supplies, weapons, and rebels who began the War and made it viable. After that, with the idolizing and unending support of Fidel Castro, it was Celia Sanchez who made the prime decisions both during the War {both before, during, and after Fidel was in a Batista prison from July-1953 till May-1955}...and, truth be known, Celia Sanchez after January 1-1959 still made the prime decisions in Revolutionary Cuba.
Of course, since January of 1959 Little Havana/Miami has made sure that Americans are unaware of the brilliant, child-loving heroine Celia Sanchez who was most responsible for defeating Batista, the Mafia, and the United States...and also is most responsible for the equally amazing longevity of Revolutionary Cuba from January 1, 1959 till March 8, 2022...and counting!!
And of course, Little Havana/Miami will not allow Americans to make their own opinions about things such as this famed and definitive Lee Lockwood photo. In Revolutionary Cuba it shows, early one morning, Celia Sanchez writing down definitive rules for governing the island...you know, things like creating laws such as The Block by Block Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, the Permanent Organization and Federation of Cuban Revolutionary Women, Free Health Care for All Cubans for Their Lifetimes, Free College Educations for All Cubans, etc., etc., etc. While she wrote such decisions above, Fidel Castro was rocking in his chair but ready to defend whatever she ruled. And to this day, even though some of the organizations and rules have altered their names, they continue in March of 2022 to be the main protectors of the embargoed, blockaded, and severely targeted nation.
At age 59 on January 11-1980, Celia Sanchez died of throat cancer, apparently because during the War she became a chain-smoker. While Americans in March-2022 are supposed to vilify Fidel Castro and the other famed rebels -- while sanitizing Luciano, Batista, Lansky, U. S. businessmen, etc. -- Americans are not supposed to know about the significance of Celia Sanchez. You see, that would simply not compute with the narratives dictated in the U. S. since 1959 by Little Havana/Miami.
But as noted above, some brave U. S. groups such as THE WOMAN PROJECT.ORG knows about the unique greatness of Celia Sanchez. And, yes, quotations by Celia Sanchez still define her Cuban Revolution, such as: "We rebels...get far too much credit for winning the Revolution. Our enemies deserve most of the credit, for being greedy cowards and idiots." Such quotations, of course, don't go over very well in 2022 in Little Havana/Miami.
The 99-pound doctor's daughter started the anti-Batista War...and she also ended it. Her name is Celia Sanchez. In March of 2022 she remains the prime reason Little Havana/Miami, always supported by the world's Superpower USA, still has not recaptured Cuba.
This photo shows Fidel Castro the first day he ever laid eyes on Celia Sanchez. It was the the day he joined her War in the Sierra Maestra Mountains in far eastern Cuba after he had spent almost two years in a Batista prison and then returned from his sojourn in Mexico to join her war. Yes, Celia gave Fidel this telescopic rifle. But from 1953 till 1957 Fidel had already idolized Celia as the leader of the War. Georgie Anne Geyer, the legendary U. S. conservative columnist/author, in her seminal book, pointed out that Fidel always staunchly backed Celia "even when he disagreed with her decisions during the War and in Revolutionary Cuba," and Geyer pointed out that Celia "over-ruled Fidel" whenever and wherever she chose to do so. The legendary Cuban writer/author/rebel Marta Rojas told me in Cuba in 2004, "Celia, even after her death in 1980, still ruled Cuba because Fidel still rules Cuba to this day only the exact way be believes Celia would want him to rule this island."
And YET, even in March of 2022 it is still Celia Sanchez's Cuba...and that will remain so until or if Little Havana recaptures the pugnacious Caribbean island from a rich & lofty perch nearby in the superpower USA...just across the Florida Straits from Cuba!!
