Taking Advantage of A Pandemic!!
As of April 23rd, 2020, the island of Cuba has reported 3 more COVID-19 deaths, making a total of 43. With a population of 11.5 million, Cuba is battling the pandemic while also being forced to struggle against history's all-time cruelest and longest {since 1962} Embargo/Blockade ever imposed by a powerful nation against a much-weaker nation. After 6+ decades of trying mightily to overthrow the Cuban Revolution, the extremist anti-Cuba propagandists who have thrived and proliferated in the United States since January of 1959 have risen from under their rocks to take full advantage of the Coronavirus crisis to accomplish what decades of lies, assassinations, military excursions, terrorism, sanctions, embargoes, blockades, etc., have FAILED to accomplish. But for sure, since 1959 right-wing exiles from Cuba and other former U.S.-backed dictatorships have flocked to the U. S., especially Miami, to #1 -- Get rich; and #2 to RE-CAPTURE Cuba, the island in the Caribbean that had the AUDACITY to overthrow the brutal and thieving U.S.-backed Batista-Mafia dictatorship way back in 1959.
These are some of the Cuban doctors that arrived today -- April 23rd, 2020 -- at Nelson Mandela Airport in Praia, the capital of the African nation of Cape Verde. The Health Minister of Cape Verde, Dr. Serafina Alves, had begged for Cuba's help to fight the Coronavirus pandemic. Dozens of nations, small and poor countries to rich and large ones -- from Jamaica to Italy -- have done the same thing. Of course, any positive thing regarding Cuba brings out the fierce anti-Cuban propagandists that have abounded in the United States since 1959...defaming innocent Cubans like the doctors shown above and democracy-loving Americans like me...while, of course, always sanitizing and justifying the overthrown Batista-Mafia dictatorship that brutalized Cuba and spawned the Cuban Revolution, which quickly spawned a new capital named Little Havana on nearby U. S. soil.
Of course, rising to the forefront to take advantage of Cuba's COVID-19 struggles is Andres Oppenheimer, one of the many anti-Cuban propagandists who have gotten obscenely rich in the United States. Oppenheimer was born 68 years ago in Argentina, so he knows about revolutionaries like Che Guevara and, next to #1-$...#One making money...it seems that Oppenheimer's secondary goal in life is to overthrow the Cuban Revolution. With the Trump administration having elevated the Cuban embargo into a full-scale blockade, and taking advantage of Cuba's tough battle against COVID-19, the heartless Oppenheimer knows this is the time to pounce. As an unchecked Editorialist for the Miami Herald, he has penned a cruel propaganda-spewed article entitled: "ARGENTINA WILLING TO SUPPORT MODERN-DAY SLAVERY BY INVITING 500 CUBAN DOCTORS." A blatant liar, Oppenheimer doesn't discuss that, as usual, Argentina is one of dozens of nations who have successfully BEGGED Cuba for help during this latest medical catastrophe -- from Caribbean neighbors such as Jamaica, Bahamas, St. Lucia, etc., to rich nations such as Italy, Spain, etc., and to small Latin American nations like Honduras that the U. S. has tried to turn anti-Cuban with extra-special aid via stashes of tax dollars. Oppenheimer and the plethora of rich anti-Cuban propagandists in the U. S. have gotten wealthy implying that the Batista-Mafia dictatorship was a world-class government while Revolutionary Cuba has exceeded Nazi Germany as history's all-time worst government.
In the pages of the Miami Herald and other anti-Cuban propaganda outlets, Andres Oppenheimer has gained most of his wealth and fame. But he also has authored seven highly-financed/highly publicized books that have built his bank accounts on the backs of the masses of innocent Cubans on the island that are surely his prime victims, but the U. S. democracy, of course, also is a victim.
Of course, the likes of Andres Oppenheimer have had the glorious help from right-wing media outlets, universities, and the ever-burgeoning Think Tanks to spew their anti-Cuban propaganda into a vast collage of Cottage Industries and bulging bank accounts. Once they landed on U. S. soil, anti-Cuban propagandists such as Andres Oppenheimer quickly amassed huge financial and political support from Batistiano exiles, the Catholic Church, the Bush dynasty and other self-serving politicians, etc., etc. With such money and political backing, Andres Oppenheimer and his ilk easily overwhelmed ordinary exiles and everyday Americans. Among their perks, of course, were their choices of America's most expensive Universities -- Harvard, Yale, Stanford, etc. Andres Oppenheimer has taken advantage of all of his perks -- Miami, Little Havana, Colombia University, Miami Herald, moneyed-spewed right-wing outlets, powerful political sycophants, etc., etc.
Along the way, Andres Oppenheimer and his kind have made the U. S. democracy more resemble Batista's and Luciano's Cuba than the America that emerged out of World War II in 1945 as the strongest and most admired nation in the Whole Wide World.
Extreme anti-Cuban propagandists such as Andres Oppenheimer...or such as Humberto Fontana...have free and unchecked media and political wherewithal to spew anti-Cuban propaganda at will across the length and breadth of America.
What does it say about America and Democracy when it's neither healthy nor unwise to challenge Counter Revolutionary anti-Cuban propagandists???
In 1962 a wave of thousands of Cuban children...14,000 at one time...were flown off the island to Miami. Fine!! But after being coddled far more with opportunities than everyday American children had, they were programmed to be extremely educated Counter Revolutionaries. Take for example...Carlos Eire, a 1962 alumni and benefactor. He got, among other Cuban amenities, a truly wonderful education at Yale University. For decades now he has been unchallenged as a History Professor at Yale University and as an unchallenged Counter Revolutionary author and lecturer.
No matter what he says in his highly financed and highly publicized books about Cuba, Carlos Eire is absolutely unchallenged. And that is so regardless of how much of what he says hurts totally innocent Cubans on the island who, for over six decades, have been severely punished by Miami...and have not been afforded the lush amenities Cubans get in Miami.
In the United States of America since 1959 Americans have been saturated with and spoon-fed propaganda about CONFESSIONS of a REFUGEE BOY LEARNING to DIE in MIAMI. But what about less-privileged and less-coddled Cuban boys {and girls} on the island since 1959? When privileged and coddled Boys & Girls grow up rich in Miami and then promote genocide against poor Boys & Girls on the island, then I think that is wrong. I am sorry for America and DEMOCRACY that Yale University's most celebrated Havana-born Cuban, Carlos Eire, so profoundly disagrees with me on that score.
