The United States economic embargo against Cuba began in 1962 and is stronger than ever in November of 2025. Why? And moreover, when will it end?
Any good map will confirm that the island of Cuba remains the largest nation in the Caribbean. Although there are now many areas on the island that are still decaying badly because of massive economic problems while other places are being restored and improved to again resemble some of the most beautiful aspects of the tropical and tourist-mecca paradise that prospered so profoundly prior to 1959 when the Florida Mafia kingpins and the United States government were combining to wildly support the money-crazed, tourist-loving Batista dictatorship.
But after Batista was ousted by the Cuban Revolution in 1959, the U. S. EMBARGO against Cuba was imposed in 1962 and it has existed for over six decades. No other Caribbean nation nor any other nation in the world has ever faced such an EMBARGO imposed by a much larger nation. In other words, the Caribbean's largest nation, Cuba, is the only nation in the world surrounded by an economic EMBARGO that severely restricts economic viability such as tourism, something other nations around the world are allowed to enjoy...all except not post-Batista Cuba.
Since January of 2025 international news sources such as the BBC have informed the world that the U. S. EMBARGO, which began in 1962, is being "tightened" by the current U. S. goverment led by President "Trump." When an EMBARGO that began in 1962 has been continually "tightened" by the strongest nation in the world for almost seven decades, where does that leave the citizens in that EMBARGOED small nation? The asnswer is easy: The everyday people in Cuba in November of 2025 are facing food and medicine shortages, constant island-wide power blackouts, and other extreme deprivations. Thus, on November 20th in 2025 below are Cuban Headlines flashing around the world:
Everyday people in Cuba do not deserve these headlines!!
A Google search, as above, readily explains Cuba's plight!!
The CEDA News Brief shown above updates the Cuban plight!!
Everyday Cubans don't decide what Venezuela does!!
At age 85 and as a lifelong American Democracy-Lover, permit me to ask two questions about the two images shown above: {1} How and Why has the United States allowed this to exist for the past 66 years? And {2} does this shame the United States more than it shames Cuba?
