Exactly Nine Years Since Fidel Castro Died

 How Much Has Cuba Changed?

Today is November 25th in 2025. Exactly nine years ago -- on November 25th in 2016 -- Cuba's legendary revolutionary leader Fidel Castro died at age 90 in Havana. His Cuban Revolution way back on January 1st in 1959 overthrew the US/Mafia-backed dictator Fulgencio Batista. Fidel Castro's revolution all these decades later and nine years after his death still rules Cuba although each day since 1959 Cuba's northern neighbor, the United States -- the strongest nation in the world -- has tried mightily to end Fidel Castro's revolution.

Today -- on November 25th in 2025 -- if he was still alive it is sure that Fidel Castro's primary thoughts would be about the United States and the U. S. economic embargo that began in 1962 but in 2025 is stronger than ever. Of course, Fidel called the embargo a blockade, and "bloqueo" would still be his term for it.

The "bloqueo" and Fidel Castro are still synonymous in 2025.
Today -- on the 9th anniversary of Fidel Castro's death at age 90 -- Helen Yaffe is remembered as the world's top historian regarding the life and legacy of Fidel Castro. She is a Professor at the University of Glasgow in England and she knows more about Fidel Castro and what he still means to Cuba than any other source.
Today -- on November 25th in 2025 -- Helen Yaffe posted on social media her remembrance of this day exactly nine years after Fidel Castro died. To know Fidel Castro and his legacy, take note of what she said above today, as shown above, and then dial up Helen Yaffe's YouTube interview about Fidel that originated on the BBC:
On YouTube there are about ten excellent videos showing the great Professor Helen Yaffe being interviewed about Fidel Castro. The one shown above is about five minutes.
In her interviews, lectures, and books, Helen Yaffe's knowledge of the impact of Fidel Castro's life and legacy is unparalleled. Her many trips from Scotland to Cuba have been to gauge the pulse of the Cuban people, and no historian knows them {or Fidel Castro} better than Professor Helen Yaffe.
And, yes, Helen Yaffe used the two images shown above on her social media page to stress her belief that the endless U. S. economic embargo/blockade of Cuba is genocidal.
