Civil Rights Icon Joins Cuba Fight to Survive U. S. Sanctions

 

    First famed for being a Top Aide to Martin Luther Kiing, Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis, now 77, is now a renowned journalist, publisher, author, and President and CEO of the National Newspaper Publishers Assocation. Dr. Chavis is also appalled that the nearby island of Cuba in June of 2025 is facing drastic food shortages and nationwide power blackouts. Dr. Chavis blames the disgrace "for the most part" on the everlasting six-decade-old U. S. economic EMBARGO and other sanctions that U. S. President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are currently very severely tightening on the vulnerable island that lies just a few miles south of Florida.

      A Cuban diplomat in charge of U. S. relations, Johana Tablada, says: "I am so thankful that an American of the statue of Dr. Benjamin J. Chavis has joined our struggle to survive the United States economic blockade of Cuba that, by its own definition starting way back in 1962, was to 'starve, deprive, and make miserable' the Cuban people. That was imposed after the Cuban Revolution in 1959 had overthrown the brutal Batista dictatorshiip that the U. S. loved. Now in 2025 the Trump and Rubio administration in the U. S. has cruelly tightened the blockade even more now than it has ever been in the prior decades. I am so glad to have an American icon like Dr. Chavis now fighting with us."

Civil Rights icon and legendary publisher Ben Chavis and key Cuban diplomat Johana Tablada. They are deeply concerned that the newly tightened U. S. EMBARGO/sanctions by the  superpower United States against the nearby island nation of Cuba is simply starving, depriving, and making miserable too many very vulnerable everyday Cubans.

     The United States calls it an "EMBARGO" and Cuba calls it a "Blockade." Whatever it is called, it has existed for over six decades, since 1962. And in 2025 U. S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and U. S. President Donald Trump have drastically tightened it, first by putting Cuba on the very short U. S. list of Nations That Sponsor Terrorism.
