The Spanish word for "liar" is "mentiroso." Yesterday -- October 27th, 2026 -- little Cuba, the island nation with ten million people, loudly called the superpower United States, which has over 340 million people, a "liar" at the United Nations in New York City. In what was an enormouisly HUGE news day for Cuba, the United States, and the world -- with massively important elections in Brazil, the U. S., Israel, etc., and even two world-involved wars reaching massive milestones, the Cuban depiction of the United States as a liar garnered massive news coverage not only in Cuba and the U. S. but it also got massive electronic and print coverage around the world.
Cuba's long-time Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez created the uproar at the UN yeeterday when he vehemently interrupted the U.S. UN Ambassador Mike Waltz's speech from the famed UN podium. Rodriguez was sitting well back in the audience with the Cuban delegation when he rose from his seat shouting "liar" as Waltz denied that there has ever been a U. S. embargo/blockade against Cuba and Waltz claimed that members of Cuba's revolutionary families were living in wild luxury while the everyday Cuban people were facing drastic food and medical shortages and other drastic deprivations such as constant island-wide power shortages that Rodriguez says are killing even babies who need electric devices in order to live. It was at that point that Rodriguez raced to the isle and advanced to the front of the podium to engage Waltz while he was still loudly calling the speaker, Waltz, a "liar."
Yesterday while Cuba's Bruno Rodriguez and the USA's Mike Waltz were shouting at each other yesterday at the United Nations, the UN President was trying to demand order be restored at the august forum as much of the world has watched play out.
After the massive US-Cuba/Mike Waltz-Bruno Rodriguez uproar at the UN yesterday in New York City, the U. S. Cuban-American Secretary of State Marco Rubio kicked a Cuban delegate out of the U. S. early. Born in Miami, Rubio viciously opposes Cuba's revolutionary leaders and now Rubio leads U. S. relations with other nations...including Cuba, of course.
Today -- on October 28th in 2026 -- the United Nations for the 34th consecutive October held its vote designed to demand that the U. S. end its Embargo/Blockade against Cuba that began back in 1962. In previous years the votes were almost unanimous to end it with often just two nations, the U. S. and Israel, voting to keep it in place. But prior to today Cuba had voiced regret that the U. S. had persuaded many European and Latin American nations to switch to voting For the Embargo/Blockade. Thus, as shown above, today the UN vote had 130 nations voting against the Embargo/Blockade but 17 nations voted to keep it in place while 25 nations abstented and failed to vote either way.
And so, today on October 28th in 2026 the United Nations voted 130 to 17 with 25 abstentions to demand that the U. S. end its EMBARGO against Cuba. During the previous 33 Octobers when the vote was held at the UN, the vote had often been 187-to-2 with only the U. S. and Isreal voting to continue it. So, today's vote at the UN with 17 nations, not just 2 nations, voting to keep the EMBARGO in place, it deeply saddens a lot of people -- including American-lovers and Democracy-lovers like me.
