Why was the U. S. CIA Director John Ratcliffe in Havana today? For sure, the CiA and Cuba have been dire enemies since the 1959s.
Tonight NBC News reported that there are "CUBANS PROTEST ROLLING BLACKOUTS" in Havana. It is not known if the CIA is involved.
The plane that brought the CIA Director to Cuba today!! It is not known if the Protests in Havana tonight involve this surprise flight.
Last night U. S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as shown above, talked about Cuba while he and other top U. S. leaders were on Air Force One on the 16-hour flight to China. As usual Rubio, who has Cuba's fate in his hands, maintains that the neighboring island's dire problems are totally because of the corruption and stupidity of the revolutionary leaders who have led Cuba since 1959, or since the U.S.-backed corrupt and brutal Batista dictatorship was overthrown. The Miami-born Rubio loves the Little Havana/Miami-beloved U. S. Embargo/Blockade of Cuba that the U. S. first imposed in 1962 and that Rubio since January of 2025 as Secretary of State has drastically and fiercely tightened. Again on the flight to China last night Rubio strongly reiterated that there's "no U. S. embargo/blockade" harming the Cuban people on the island and he again implied that he and the other rich and powerful Cuban-Americans in Little Havana/Miami only want to help the Cubans on the island. How, Mr. Rubio? By "starving, depriving, and making miserable" the Cubans on the island, which was a stated purpose of the Embargo when it BEGAN WAY BACK IN 1962?
The heralded Summit that began yesterday in China pits discussions between the two leaders of the world's two richest and most powerful naitons. But wars in places like Iran and Ukraine intersect with the economic clashes and cooperations between the two Superpower nations. Meanwhile, Cuba's planned fate apparently is awaiting for the U. S. to declare some kind of truce with its war with Iran.
Today -- on May 14th in 2026 -- the Cuban Headlines flashing around the U. S. and the World include the surprise that the "Trump administration offers $100m in aid to Cuba in exchange for reform." Well, Cuba surely could use one hundred million dollars but obviously it is offered amid other proposals that Cuba might not accept.
Cuba wonders if Marco Rubio's offer of $100,000,000 in U. S. "assistance" includes demands that Cuba will not accept, meaning that Cuba believes that Rubio anticipated that non-acceptance and then is using it to blame Cuba. Last night on the Air Force One flight to China, Rubio as usual stressed that any money that gets to Cuba goes only to the military leaders who rule the island, and never goes to the Cuban people who direly need the "assistance."
And, meanwhile, Cuba finds out that Rubio and Trump are responsible for "the latest escalation in a decades-long economic war designed to bring about regime change by suffocating the island's economy." That, actually, is a question that both Marco Rubio and Donald Trump should be asked while they tell the world that the endless and drastic Embargo/Blockade does not SUFFOCATE the Cuban people.
In other words, after almost seven decades, perhaps Miami and the United States should perhaps END THE BLOCKADE to ascertain what will happen...other than just enriching and appeasing the Cubans in Little Havana/Miami. Minus the massive U. S. sanctions, the largest and most beautiful and most strategic island/nation in the Caribbean MIGHT THRIVE!!
