Rubio Overwhelms Cuba's Best Caribbean Friend

 March 17th in 2026

The largest and, arguably, the most beautiful island in the Caribbean is Cuba. Its closest neighbor and best friend is Jamaica. For decades they helped each other out.
Jamaica, for example, has long paid Cuba's highly skilled doctors to take care of the critical medical needs of the Jamaican people. This month of March in 2026 Jamaica very reluntantly was persuaded to give up that cooperative alignment with Cuba.
While other nations have routinely bowed to the sanctions/embargo/blockade that the superpower United States has imposed on Cuba since 1962, Jamaica for decades has tried to help the Cuban people. But in January of 2025 Miami-born Cuban-American Marco Rubio became U. S. President Donald Trump's ultra-powerful Secretary of State. All of his adult life the 54-year-old Rubio has dreamed of overthrowing Revolutionary Cuba and as U. S. Secretary of State he now certainly has been provided with that ability. Early on in 2025 Rubio visited the Caribbean, including the above meeting with Jamaica's Prime Minister Andrew Holness, Cuba's close friend. For months Holness resisted bowing to Rubio's Cuban plans. But, as mentioned below, even Andrew Holness in March of 2026 has finally caved in to the powerful and persuasive Marco Rubio.
Yes, now even Jamaica has been persuaded "to cave to U. S. pressure" while Miami Cubans finally, after 67 years of dreaming, are watching their dreams come true.
On live TV today -- March 17-2026 -- this photo shows Fox News coverage at the White House during a news conference featuring President Donald Trump, Vice President J. D. Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This was the point that Trump said: "We'll do something with Cuba 'very soon'"
Also today President Trump said: "I will have the honor of taking Cuba but I think Cuba's seen the end." The new Cuba, many think, will resemble dictator Batista's money-crazed Cuba in the 1950's prior to the Cuban Revolution.
