US News Media Unfairly Targets Cuba

For years the Associated Press, the top U. S. News Agency, has had the superb Andrea Rodriguez as its top journalist stationed in Cuba. She fairly reports from inside the long-maligned island, as epitomized by her latest AP article shown below that reveals an enterprising female entrepreneur in Havana running a popular Havana restaurant and diligently trying to make a living for her family.
As this AP photo suggests, the AP's Andrea Rodriguez reports this week that Sonia Perez uses this Robot to decipher digital orders in her "Dona Alicia" restaramt in Havana and then the Robot brings the food and drinks to her customers. The article is entitled: "A Restaurant in Havana Defies..." Sonia Perez actually is typical of entrepreneurs who work hard in Cuba to "Defy" many obstacles and restrictions, and Sonia Perez happens to know that the obstacles and restrictions for her include the affects of the U. S. EMBARGO/Blockade that has harmed her family and restricts her from making an honest liviing, but the diligent Sonia Perez has typically faced those U.S.-imposed obstacles and restrictions all of her life, as has her mother.
The infamous U. S. EMBARGO began in 1962 and it has been continually expanded since then, especially during the last two presidential 4-year terms by President Donald Trump. Normally for the past six decades+ since 1962, the U. S. media has failed to report fairly about the EMBARGO, such as about the documented fact that U. S. documents reveal that the purpose of the EMBARGO was to starve, deprive, and make miserable the Cuban people to induce them to rise up and overthrow Cuba's revolutionary government, namely the Cuban Revolution that in 1959 overthrew the brutal and thieving Batista dictatorship. Maybe one day democracy-loving Americans might convince the U. S. media to report truthfully about the EMBARGO -- and even admit that a few rich and politically connected people in a POWERFUL nation should not be allowed to endlessly profit from harming vulnerable masses of people in a much weaker nation. But in the United States even powerful media sources such as The New York Times, Miami Herald, and The Wall Street Journal seem to endlessly maintain key journalists who endlessly write Anti-Cuba/Pro-Batista/pro-LittleHavana Miami articles that tend to accept things such as...the EMBARGO.
Now deep into the month of April in 2025, the two headlines shown above are indicative of the fact that normally all headlnes are injurious to Cubans such as Sonia Perez who only wants to provide for her family. The New York Times headline above shows the Trump adminstration is trying to end the few things that Cuba uses to make some money, and that includes the highly skilled and highly beloved Cuban Medical Units that other nations need and are willing to pay for...including Jamaica, the island nation a few miles southeast of Cuba whose Prime Minister recently told President Trump's Miami-born Secretary of State Marco Rubio face to face, "No, Mr. Secretary, we disagree with you on that issue. The Jamaican people need and love the Cuban medical brigade and it is my job to keep them to help my people."
And the other headline shown above is from the London-based Reuters international news agency and it too is injurious to everyday Cubans such as entrepreneur Sonia Perez. The Reuters headline says: "Dissident pushes for change in Cuba, one ladle {change} at a time." That headline in late April in 2025 is indicative of the fact that other nations, including the UK that could help Cubans such as Sonia Perez, simply bow to the incomparable power of the United States and its Cuban policies.
Frances Robles of The New York Times.
Nora Gamez Torres of The Miami Herald.
Mary Anastasia O'Grady of The Wall Street Journal.
For many years as a democracy-loving American, I have waited for three big-name, high-profile U. S. journalists such as the three shown above who work for big-name, high-profile U. S. newspapers such as the New York Times, Miami Herald, and Wall Street Journal to stop suggesting that it is alright for a few rich people in a superpower nation to "starve, deprive, and make miserable" the masses of vulnerable people in a much-smaller and much-weaker nation. Of course, I am still waiting for the likes of big-name, high-profile U. S. "journalists" like Frances Robles, Nora Gamez Torres, and Mary Anastasia O'Grady to tell me why it is alright for a few people in an ultra-rich nation to continually deprive the lives of masses of people in a nearby much-weaker country. And I am still waiting for those three high-profile highly biased U. S. journalists to write an unbiased article regarding the struggles of everyday Cuban people on the vulnerable island.
To deny that this definitive Carlos LaTuff image of the endless U. S. EMBARGO vs. Cuba does not shame the United States is a denial that in itself continues to shame the United States. Yes, Carlos LaTuff's worldwide image of the EMBARGO shames the United States and Democracy-lovers like me. And so does the worldwide UN vote that each October asks the U. S. to end the EMBARGO. That vote in the United Nations each year for decades has typically been 189-to-2 with U. S. and Israel, which is very dependent on the U. S. economically and militarily, are the only two nations that each year vote to maintain the endless EMBARGO). {One year it actually was a worldwide unanimous UN vote because that one year President Obama chose not to let the U. S. vote for it}.
As the photos and aricles shown above indicated, President Donald Trump, Miami-born Cuban-American Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Miami-born Cuban-American Envoy to Latin America Mauricio Claver-Carone since January of 2025 have apparently spelled doom for Cuba's Revolutionary government that has ruled the island for 66 years, since 1959. And now in late April in 2025, it appears the only thing that is holding off Doomsday for Revolutionary Cuba is the sheer fact that the Trump presidency is facing other faraway foreign problems that don't relate to the little problem the U. S. has with its nearby neighbor Little Cuba.
For example...BIG China!!

Today's headlines show US closer to overthrowiing Cuba

 April 14-2025 Cuban Headlines!!

Above -- on April 14th in 2025 -- you can see the top four Cuban Headlines flashing around  the world today. Note that they originate from...the New York Times, WPLG TV in Miami, CBS News in New York., and from Reuters in London. You may Goggle any of the four and, I believe, you will detect that the nascent second U. S. Donald Trump presidency is determined to finally overthrow Revolutionary Cuba  -- you know, the historic event that overthrew the US/Mafia-backed Batista dictatorship in Cuba way back on January 1st, 1959.
The United States, of course, loved the Batista dictatorship in Cuba in the 1950s because the not-so-lovable Fulgencio took vast kickbacks from top U. S. companies and therefore allowed those rich U. S. companies to partake in the vast fortunes Cuba provided to them via tourism, gambling, prostitution, drugs, etc., etc.
While he was Cuba's brutal, money-crazed dictator in the 1950s, this was Fulgencio Batista's home in southern Florida next to the mansion owned by Meyer Lansky, the Mafiia kingpin who ran those vast gambling & hotel operations in Batista's Cuba.
But, of course, on January 1st in 1959 Fidel Castro's Cuban Revolution overthrew the Batista dictatorship. Not surprisingly, Fidel and his revolution made some powerful enemies -- especially in Miami and in Washington. Thus, from January in 1959 till April in 2025 there have been daily and massive efforts to overthrow the Cuban Revolution. Three ultra-powerful men -- Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, and Mauricio Claver-Carone -- are now determined that Fidel's Cuban Revolution will finally end in 2025.
When he started his second 4-year term as President of the United States back on January 20th in 2025, Donald Trump quickly anointed Marco Rubio and Mauricio Claver-Carone with enough superpower power to at last end the Cuban Revolution after 66 very inimitable and enigmatic years. Rubio and Claver-Carone are both, of course, from Miami and they have spent their entire Liittle Havana adult livess in powerful private and political positions trying desperately to overthrow Revolutionary Cuba. Now, thanks to President Trump, both Rubio and Claver-Carone have the power to fulfill their lifelong dreams -- Rubio as the ultra-powerful U. S. Secretary of State and Claver-Carone as the very powerful U. S. Envoy to Latin America, which -- OF COURSE -- includes Cuba.
And now...let's go back to the top of this post to study the top four Cuban Headlines flashing around the world today. And let us concentrate on the Headline and Photo today -- on April 14 in 2025 -- from WPLG TV-10, which is the NBC TV station in Miami. Of today's four top Cuban Headlines, this one probably best indicates what Trump-Rubio/Claver-Carone are doing today to overthrow the enigmatic Cuban Revolution. So, Google this major report today from WPLG TV-10 in Miami.

Miami Herald Touts Demise of Cuba in 2025

For many years Nora Gamez Torres has been the top Cuban/Latin America journalist at the Miami Herald. See seems to strongly believe that all Cubans in Cuba are terrible people and that all Cuban-Americans in Miami's Little Havana are wonderful people. Further, for many years she seems to have believed that Miami's Liittle Havana Cubans are about to overthrow the Cuban Revolution ANY DAY NOW. Take, for instance, the headline and article by Nora Gamez Torres in the Miami Herald that was published on April 10th, 2025. The glaring headline is: "Things are about to get a lot worse in Cuba: Trump's crackdown plans explained." Some excerpts are listed below:
As you see above, Nora Gamez Torres in the Miami Herald on April 10th, 2025, again explained the upcoming demise of Revolutionary Cuba: "In a gambit to precipitate regime change in Cuba, the Trump administration is planning to ramp up..." "Trump adminstration officials and Cuban-American members of Congress..." "Havana is at its weakest in decades and {Trump's Washington} has been pushing for an all-out effort to topple it. The island's economy has been in a downward spiral in recent years, and the country's ruler, Raul Castro, is 94."
Well...it is true that Raul Castro wiil turn 94 in a few weeks, on June 3rd in 2025, and he is very much still alive. But, unlike what Nora Gamez Torres said, he is no longer Cuba's "ruler" but his legacy on the island still makes him second in influence only to his older brother Fidel Castro who died at age 90 in 2016. As illustrated above by the 1957 photo, the Castro brothers fought side-by-side before, during, and after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution on January 1st in 1959.
Also in her April 10th-2025 latest Cuba demise article, the persistent Nora Gamez Torres, as you can see above, wrote: "In a Miami event last week, Trump's special envoy for Latin America, Mauricio Claver-Carone, said the administration perceives 'a hiisoric opportunityi in Cuba for political opening and political transition.'"
Indeed, in her April 10th-2025 article in the Miami Herald one thing that Nora Gamez Torres got correct was the fact that Mauricio Claver-Carone is the prime Trump official in charge of overthrowing the Cuban Revoluion in 2025, which is the 66th year after the victory of the Cuban Revolution in 1959. The Miami-born Claver-Carone works directly under Trump's top official, the Miami-born Secretary of State Marco Rubio who also has worked all his adult life to overthrow the revolution.
For sure, all of their adult lives Mauricio Claver-Carone and Marco Rubio have worked powerfully and tirelessly in both Miami and in Washington to overthrow the Cuban Revolution. And now, with their ultra-powerful positions in the Trump adminstatiion, here in 2025 Claver-Carone and Rubio seemingly have glorious and unchecked opportunities to finally fulfill their life-long dreams of overthrowing the Cuban Revolution.
Will history say that the revolution ruled Cuba from 1959 till 2025??
Maybe, maybe not.

Two "US Hitmen" Targetiing Cuba {according to Johana Tablada}

A vibrant Cuban who speaks for the Cuban government, Johana Tablada this month of April in 2025 is lashing out at "Miami's two hitman that Trump has charged with fatally hitting Cuba." She was referring to Trump's U. S. Secretary of Stats Marco Rubio and Trump's Special Latin American Envoy Mauricio Claver-CaroneJohana Tablada believes Trump's "two hitmen" from Miami, now in their 50s, have spent their entire adult lives in Miami and Washington trying to overthrow the 1959 Cuban Revolution. She believes the Miami-born Rubio is now Trump's main Cuban antagonist but considers Miami-born Claver-Carone to be more dangerous because Rubio's top priorities are things such as bloody wars in Ukraine & Gaza and a high-stakes Trade War with China, things that don't involve Cuba. So, she thinks Claver-Carone is Trump's prime pointman when it comes to Latin America, especially when it comes to fiinally overthrowing Revolutionary Cuba.
Above on Facebook the observant Johana Tablada posted scathing words about "the psychopath Mauricio Claver-Carone." You can read above what she thinks about President Trump's Special Envoy to Latin America...and especially Cuba.
From Havana Johana Tablada keeps close tabs on Cuban-Americans in Little Havana, which was created in the heart of Miami Florida starting in January of 1959 when the Cuban Revolution shocked the world by overthrowing the Mafiia-riddled Batista dictatorship that brutally overwhelmed Cuba for many years.
The headline shown above particularly hurt Johana Tablada this week: "Cuban-born rep to lobby Trump administration for major actions to 'starve' Havana regime: The time is now." The "Rep" who made that comment was  U. S. Congressman Carlos Gimenez who was born in Batista's Havana but, after Fidel Castro overthrew the Batista dictatorship in 1959, settled in Miami and became the Mayor of Miami-Dade  County from 2011 till 2020 and then became a member of the U. S. Congress from Miami. His use of the word "starve" in that Miami Herald article/headline reminds Johana Tablada of the same word that the U. S. used in 1962 to justify the U.S. EMBARGO/Blockade against Cuba that started in 1962 and, more than six decades later in April of 2025, is being massively tightened to finally overthrow the 1959 Cuban Revolution. In 1962 to justify the EMBARGO/Blockade the U. S. said the purpose was "to starve, deprive, and make miserable" the Cuban people to induce them to rise up and overthrow their Revolutionary government. For over six decades, Johana Tablada claims, it has indeed starved, deprived, and made misrable three generations of Cubans on the island to appease Cubans in Miami/Little Havana. And so...that word "starve" as used by Carlos Gimenez in April of 2025 irks Johana Tablada greatly.
Born in Havana 71 years ago in 1954 when Fulgencio Batista was the brutal, money-craazed, US-backed, and Mafia-backed Cuban dictator, Carlos Gimenez was one of the many Cubans who settled in Miami after the Cuban Revolution overthrew Batista in January of 1959. With typical and instant support from the wealthy Catholic Church, the superpower U. S. government, etc., Gimenez typically received superb educational and other opportunities, including at Harvard. Then Gimenez was the long-time Mayor of Miami-Dade County in Florida before following other Havana-born Cuban-Americans such Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Lincoln Diaz-Balart as powerful Counter Revolutionary members of the U. S. Congress in Washiington. And the endless line of Florida-born Cuban-Americans in the U. S. Congress have also included Mario Diaz-Balart, Marco  Rubio, Maria Salazar, etc. Thus, Liittle Havana in Miami Florida -- according to Johana Tablada "has dictated U. S. Cuban policies to their desires, personally and politically, for the past six decades. Maybe in 2025 it is time for the U. S. democracy to listen to some other people, including me, and not just Miami Cubans."
Indeed, on Cuban radio and television as well as at numerous other venues, Johana Tablada regularly speaks forcefully about Cuban-US Relations.
And now in April of 2025 Havana legend Johana Tablada believes that Miami-born Mauricio Claver-Carone -- not Donald Trump nor Marco Rubio -- is the biggest threat to Fidel Castro's Cuban Revoluion, which is now in its 66th year of ruling Cuba.

Rubio Starts April Still Trying to Change Cuba.

After starting his second 4-year term as President of the United States on January 20th in 2025, Donald Trump's first major decision was to name Marco Rubio as his ultra-powerful Secretary of State. It makes Rubio the leader of the USA's foreign relations, both around the war-torn world and closer to home involving the Caribbean and especially Cuba. Rubio was born 53 years ago in Little Havana/Miami to fierce anti-Castro counter-revolutionary Cuban parents. In his entire adult Political life Rubio, in both Miami and Washington, has tried desperately to overthrow Fidel Castro's Cuban Revolution, which on January 1st in 1959 overthrew the US/Mafia-backed Batista dictatorship. But now in 2025 as Secretary of State, Rubio presumably has the power to finally overthrow Revolutionary Cuba. In fact, many of the most astute US-Cuban experts believed that Rubio would have completed his task of overthrowing Revolutionary Cuba by April but we have now entered the first week of April in 2025 and Cuba is still standing as it closely monitors...Rubio.
Entering April of 2025 the two top Cuban Headlines flashing around the world, as shown above, are from CNN in the U. S. and from El Pais in Spain. CNN  says Marco Rubio is fiercely targeting Cuba and El Pais tells the world that famed Cuban singer Haydee Milanes, from her new home in Miami, is "hurt" about how "devastated" Cuba is "is becoming."
Above are excerpts from CNN starting April of 2025 by reporting that Marco Rubio is using his Secretary of State airplane to lobby Caribbean leaders to support his effortts to finally overthrow Revolutionary Cuba. As you can see above Rubio was getting some pushback from leaders such as Andrew Holness, the Prime Minister of Jamaica. At the Press Conference that CNN showed above in Kingston, Jamaica, Rubio tried to tell Holness to stop paying and using Cuba's famed medical doctors in Jamaica. But, as you can see above, Holness bravely told Rubio that those beloved Cuban doctors were providing much needed medical services for the Jamaican people and therefore he wanted even more of them. Note in the CNN photo shown above that Rubio was looking at Holness who was praising Cuba's doctors.
And, meanwhile, the famed Cuban singer Haydee Milanes is shown above proudly wearing a "actually I'm in Havana" shirt. But, anticipating that Marco Rubio is about to change the political leadership in Havana, Haydee Milanes has moved to Little Havana in Miami, Marco Rubio's hometown.
This photo shows Pablo Milanes and his daughter Haydee Milanes. As a guitarist, singer, and songwriter, Pablo was for many decades one of Cuba's greatest musicians and he supported Fidel Castro's revolution. In her long interview with El Pais about why she moved to Miami, Haydee expained that her father died two years ago but her mother Zoe Alvarez remains in Cuba. Below are key exceprts from Haydee Milanes speaking to El Pais from her exile in Miami,, and you will readily detect how she described the "devastation" in Cuba that caused her to leave her homeland for Miami after her father Pablo died. Note her  comments below:
Above...Haydee Milanes article in El Pais.
Meanwhile, as we enter April in 2025 U. S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is pointing directly at Cuba's President Miguel Diaz-Canel. As Cuba's leader since 2018, Diaz-Canel is abundantly aware of his precarious hold on power but he says, "Rubio and other Miami politicians since 1959 have had the power of the superpower behind them in their efforts to destroy the revolution. It has not happened and it has been predictted to happen each day for the past 66 years."
This photo shows Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel paying homage at Fidel Castro's tomb in Santiago de Cuba. The revolutionary leader died at age 90 in 2016 in Havana. Miguel Diaz-Canel was born a few months after the victory of Fidel Castro's Cuban Revolution on January 1, 1959. But Diaz-Canel worships Fidel's legacy and he believes most Cubans agree with him. Also, including his pre-presidential career as Educatiion Minister, Diaz-Canel is generally well liked despite the "devastation" on the island that Haydee Milanes and others talk so loudly about after they become exiles in Miami.
But, still, a few determined foreign tourists make it to Havana lured by things such as those 1950s-era convertibles that stiil drive as well as they did back in the 1950s when the U. S. media and the U. S. government wildly promoted tourism to Batista's Mafia-run, money-crazed dictattorship. Of course, much has changed in Cuba since 1959 when the Cuban Revolution became the surprise change-maker.
And Cuba somehow still exists!!
