Cubans and Cuban-Americans -- WOW!!

In these closing weeks of 2022 the world is in dire need of professional, unbiased news reporting but mostly what it is getting is either extremely unbiased left-wing or right-wing propaganda {and not much news in between those two extremes}. Cuba, of course, is a prime example and also a prime topic. This week -- the last full week of October-2022 -- the giant international headline by the London-based The Guardian is an example of typical worldwide anti-Cuba propaganda, this time telling the world that everything in Cuba is "being devoured by woodworm," including Havana's most famed and revered Ballet Theatre {see above}.
In the United States most of the avalanches of anti-Cuban propaganda originates from 8th Street in Little Havana, which is in the heart of Miami.

The image above reveals the sharp divide today in the United States regarding how Cuba -- especially since 1959 till today -- has been portrayed in the USA. On the left Carlos Lazo was born in Cuba but then became a U. S. soldier and then a beloved U. S. professor in Seattle. His passion now is to help the Cubans in Cuba that he feels are being subjected to genocide via the U. S. blockade of the island and 243 other U. S. sanctions. On the right is Marco Rubio who was born and lives in Miami's Little Havana neighborhood and, as an ultra-powerful U. S. Senator, he remains determined to keep in place everything that Carlos Lazo has devoted his life to ending. Now with an organization that has strong Social Media support, Carlos Lazo is flying planeloads of food, medicine, and other necessities to Cuba, where he is beloved by the Cuban people. Meanwhile, Marco Rubio has asked the FBI "to investigate" Carlos Lazo.

And meanwhile there are many Cuban-Americans in the USA like Julio V. Ruiz who was born in Santa Clara-Cuba but has spent many beloved and worthwhile years as a medical contributor, first in New York City and now in Miami. His large Social Media followers include many of the USA's most unbiased media experts related to Cuban news. Thus Dr. Ruiz is an important fountain of unbiased information regarding Cubans in Cuba and Cubans in Miami.
Above Julio V. Ruiz lets us know about a brilliant letter a freedom-loving lady named Alina Barbara Lopez Hernandez wrote. It was in Spanish but Facebook above translated it into English for everyone to read.
The extraordinary political power that Cubans in Miami and in Washington have amassed since 1959 often determines who the Florida leaders and the American leaders are. Thus in just a few days -- on November 8th-2022 -- election results in Florida and in the USA will determine the foreseeable political policies of Florida and the world's richest and strongest nation, the United States!! Thus I am indebted to a great Cuban-American in Miami, Julio V. Ruiz, for sending me the results of the latest poll in the Miami area regarding the vital November 8th-2022 election. Uh, yes...the new results are very interesting.

Is Revolutionary Cuba Finally Doomed?

Since January of 1959 Cubans in Miami/Little Havana in Florida, with ultra-financial and ultra-political support in the strongest nation in the world, have predicted the doom of the Cuban Revolution that, in fact, spawned Little Havana in Miami starting in January of 1959. Yet, somehow Revolutionary Cuba is still alive on October 21st of 2022 and the Cuban in Cuba that Cubans most believe, the veteran Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, says that the U. S. effort to destroy the Revolution every day for over six decades has hurt and shamed the U. S. even more than it has hurt and shamed Cuba. In the quote above he said: "Cuba would be better off without the blockade of Cuba but the United States too would be better off without the blockade of Cuba."
This week the London-based worldwide Reuters News Agency, which is not afraid to report Cuban truths, sent this headline and photo of Bruno Rodriguez around the world. It reports that he compared the U. S. Embargo to a deadly Hurricane -- "a hurricane that never ends" for the Cuban people.
Of course, for over six decades Americans have been told that Cubans like Bruno Rodriguez are liars, which is a lie designed to make sure that American voters and tax-payers continue to support the Embargo that devastates Cuban families but enriches and empowers Cubans in Miami/Little Havana.
And once again today -- on October 21st-2022 -- as shown above Bruno Rodriguez was on statewide television in Cuba telling the Cuban people what "the United States is doing to our People." And to repeat, for decades almost all of the Cubans in Cuba have believed Bruno Rodriguez.
The President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, almost daily is on nationwide TV newscasts reporting to the Cuban people. The image above today -- October 21-2022 -- found him 65 miles southeast in Matanzas where a few weeks ago Cuba's main Power Plant was demolished by a deadly explosion and fire, killing 16 firefighters. Above Diaz-Canel is talking to engineers who are working to replace the vital energy plant. Contrary to what Americans are told, since he was the popular Education Minister, Diaz-Canel remains popular in Cuba as its leader.
As President Diaz-Canel and Cuban viewers on TV today watched the work to refurbish the vital Matanzas power plant, Diaz-Canel said, "Come hell or high water, or disastrous explosions and fires, we have no choice. We must rebuild...and always rebuild!!"
Without the endless and genocidal U. S. Embargo, along with the other 243 current U. S. sanctions aimed at Cuba, there is no doubt that the Caribbean's largest and most beautiful island nation would live and thrive.
As the Caribbean's largest, most strategically located, and most beautiful island nation, Cuba would be a dominant force in the region...IF THE U. S. WOULD ALLOW IT TO LIVE.
This photo was taken in the heart of Havana today, with the refurbished Capital dome highlighted.
This photo also was taken today in Havana, showing a fruit-vegetable market filled with fresh produce. Even unbiased non-US media sources -- including Reuters -- have recently reported on dire food shortages in Cuba in 2022 as the ultra-powerful U. S. Embargo against the island exacerbated other disasters such as the Pandemic, Hurricanes, and a deadly series of explosions/fires that wiped out Havana's most famed tourist hotel as well as Cuba's prime power plant. But, in contrast to all that, the photo above reveals truthfully that Cuba is engaged in a drastic and promising campaign of producing more-and-more of its own food...even though since the early days of Revolutionary Cuba it has purchased most of its food from other countries, even as the U. S. sanctions have severely hampered or ended such purchases. In 2022, for the first time, modern Cuba is severely trying to correct that problem, especially by producing more of its own food products.
Of course, in October of 2022 Little Havana USA in the heart of Miami continues to dictate the USA's Cuban policies. That has been the case since January of 1959. And that will continue because Little Havana has both the financial and political power to dictate Washington's Cuban policies, leaving Cuba very vulnerable to the whims and dictates of its northern neighbor that happens to be the strongest nation in the world.
It was October of 1492 when Columbus discovered Cuba and that night in his diary famously called it "the most beautiful sight these eyes have ever seen." And for that reason...along with its size and location...from 1492 to 2022 all of the world's major foreign powers -- starting but not ENDING with Spain -- have tried to own or dominate it.
And from 1492 till 2022, -- from Columbus to Castro AND BEYOND -- the "CAPTIVATING HISTORY of Cuba" has, indeed, been captivating. In other words, no other little nation has ever in all of history tried to ward off foreign domination as long or as heroically as Cuba has.

Did US Give Cuba $2 Million?

After the Bay of Pigs military attack in 1961 was defeated by Revolutionary Cuba, the United States from 1962 until TODAY -- October 19th-2022 -- has imposed an economic Blockade against Cuba for the purpose of starving, depriving, and making miserable the Cuban people for the purpose of persuading them to rise up and overthrow their own Revolutionary government. The reason for the Blockade has not been realized but indeed for over six decades it has succeeded in starving, depriving, and making miserable generations of Cubans on the island. At various times...the U. S. has made headlines by saying it wants to help the everyday Cuban people. Yet...both Cuban officials and everyday Cubans believe that such efforts are merely excuses for the U. S. to send more-and-more money to dissidents to help them overthrow the Cuban government.
Now in the past two days -- October 18th & 19th-2022 -- headlines around the world by the NY Times, Washington Post, London-based The Guardian, etc., have claimed that the U. S. is sending $2 million to Cuba to help Cubans who have been devastated by Hurricane Ian that hit them very harshly on the heels of earlier harsh recent disasters. Please understand...that Cubans who managed to survive such calamitous disasters still believe that the prime disaster in their lives is the Blockade, so forgive them if they remember that previous such offers about "aid" from the U. S. was meant only to go to U.S.-preferred dissidents, not to the Cuban government that, since January of 1959, has tried to guarantee them such things as free healthcare, free education through college, and free food.
And PLEASE understand...that what spawned and spurred the successful Cuban Revolution in the 1950s was the fact that the vicious Batista dictatorship, supported by the Mafia and by the United States, robbed the island blindly but didn't toss even a few crumbs to the majority peasants, and then to quell dissent from the everyday Cubans the Batista dictatorship murdered children to keep their parents in check. Those two ploys...as historically documented by images like the two above...backfired on Batista, the Mafia, and the U. S. Not admitting the validity of the two photos above from Batista's Cuba supposedly justifies the cruelty of the U. S. policies against Cuba since 1959.
From the two black & white images from the 1950s, please contrast and please note the image shown above today. It shows Cuba's highly respected long-time Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez speaking today to the Cuban people...and his long address was carried on all of the island's TV and radio channels. He spoke about what the Cuban people are going through in October of 2022...power blackouts, food shortages, etc....and, as you see above, he blames "the blockade" for depriving them of food, energy, etc.
And PLEASE understand...when he speaks for Cuba Bruno Rodriguez is not only believed by almost every Cuban in Cuba but also by almost every unbiased American, including countless U. S. journalists and government officials who have known him for many years. Above, in his televised speech today that was seen by most adult Cubans on the island, Bruno spoke about the U. S. supposedly handing over $2 million to help the island...but he stressed the extreme and unending cruelty of the blockade that continues preventing Cuba to provide for the basic needs of the Cuban people. He uses words such as "cruel" and "unforgivable" to describe the blockade, which is rightly called history's longest and cruelest blockade ever imposed by a powerful nation against the people in a much smaller nation. I include in English some of the captions in Bruno's sentences, although I realize Americans are programmed not to care one iota about the truth he spoke to the Cuban people today.
And the same Americans who have been programmed for decades not to be ashamed of the above image of the United States of America are the same Americans who condone, decade after decade, the internationally condemned EMBARGO.

Did US Recently Send Help to Cuba?

Today --- on October 12th-2022 -- the Miami Herald blared out the above Headline and Photo. The article was written by Nora Gamez Torres, one of that newspaper's prime anti-Cuban reporters. The article indicates that the United States actually sent some aid...some help...to Cuba after the island's recent and very deadly explosion and fire that destroyed its main Power Depot in Matanzas 65 miles southeast of Havana. Supposedly, USAID is the U. S. department that unbiased observers often describe as a prime agency in which the United States routinely filters mammoth amounts of tax dollars to undermine Cuba and therefore fund dissidents or money-hungry people who want to overthrow Revolutionary Cuba, which has been a dire U. S. policy since January 1, 1959. So, in that milieu...today's huge Miami Herald article is, uh...interesting.
As you can see above, today's article correctly mentions some facts regarding USAID and its involvement with Cuba. It took five days for Cuba to get the deadly Matanzas fire under control, thanks to instant help from Mexico, Venezuela, and Japan. The article above suggests that the U. S. actually "sent personal protective equipment for firefighters to Cuba following a devastating fire at an oil storage facility in August."
In the second paragraph above note that the USAID appeared to suggest that the protective equipment may have not even reached the Cuban firefighters, 16 of whom died fighting the horrendous blaze. The USAID quote said: "There is also a concern in Congress that this is a radical departure from the bipartisan, decades-long practice of not channeling U. S. humanitarian assistance through the Cuban regime, but rather through independent {non-governmental organizations} or humanitarian organizations." That refers to Cuba's belief that, at times, USAID, in the guise of helping everyday Cubans, uses such efforts to simply send more funding, etc., to dissidents.
The three paragraphs above in the Miami Herald -- on October 12th-2022 -- actually state, correctly, Cuba's concern for anything that the U. S., especially USAID, sends to Cuba "to aid Cubans" actually goes to only the most extreme dissidents on the island, not to the Cuban government. In other words, when devastations occur in Cuba...such as the Matanzas explosion-fire that still exacerbates power blackouts...Cuba believes that any resultant "help" from the U. S. might be used as "an excuse" to further help and fund only dissents. But at least, if you read the nine paragraphs above, the Miami Herald seems today to correctly inject Cuba's concerns about any "help" from USAID with, to say the least, a bit of skepticism in Cuba. And that, at least, is finally some honest Cuban journalism from Miami.
Indeed!!
For once...I believe that Nora Gamez Torres and the Miami Herald today -- Oct. 12th-2022 -- wrote an unbiased article regarding the USAID help that apparently the U. S. sent to Cuba with good intentions after the Matanzas explosion/fire back in August, which still remains a terrible blow to the Cuban people two months later. Yes, the fire-proof gear that supposedly was sent by USAID to help the Cuban firefighters was a gesture of kindness to the Cuban people.
Every now and then a handshake between neighbors reminds us that cooperation is better than war or terrorism.

Cuba on Sunday, Oct. 9th-2022!!!

Do Most Cubans Trust their President??

On Sunday afternoon, October 9th, 2022 a nationwide one-hour Newscast was extended to one-hour + ten minutes because it ended by going to a live speech being conducted on a street in Havana by President Miguel Diaz-Canel. The two photos above are important, I think, because they show why that important one-hour Newscast was extended ten minutes. It switched to the speech by President Diaz-Canel just as a huge crowd was still arriving and soon grew into the thousands. They were being told that Cuba will survive...despite recent days in which the U. S. Blockade has been both expanded and newly funded, as Cuba emerges from the deadly pandemic thanks to the success of its own vaccines, from a devastating series of deadly explosions and fires that have recently destroyed a prime tourist hotel in the heart of Havana and destroyed Cuba's main Power Plant 65 miles southeast of Havana in Matanzas, etc., etc.!!
The key question in Cuba and in Miami-Washington on October 9th-2022 is this: Do most Cubans in Cuba trust their President? The answer, to the surprise of Miami & Washington, is probably Yes. President Diaz-Canel was born after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in January of 1959...but he is a furious defender of Revolutionary Cuba and that has been so since the day he became President in 2018. And, yes, Cubans on the island know him well. Before he became President he was the island's Education Minister and Cubans knew him well because he was famous for riding his motorcycle or bicycle even to rural towns and cities to meet the people, then addressing them in school rooms or out in the streets or in their homes. And Yes, almost all Cubans in Cuba trusted him when he was their Education Minister and, since 2018, almost all Cubans on the island trust him as their President!!
But, 0H YES, there is no denying that little Cuba is still David while the United States is Goliath. But, YOU KNOW WHAT? That is why the U.S.-Cuba saga has been so unbelievably intriguing from Batista's Cuba in 1952 until Diaz-Canel's Cuba on October 9th in 2022!!!!
