11.1.25

Mid-January in 2025 as U. S. Cubans Fight Any Change to unBlockade Cuba.

On a rainy March 20th in 2016 U. S. President Barack Obama and his family arrived in Havana on a three-day visit that was designed to normalize relations with Cuba, starting with ending the deadly six-decade-old U. S. economic Embago-Blockade against the nearby island. The highlight of the trip was when President Obama spoke directly to the Cuban people on nationwide television and radio. And the highlight of that historic speech was when he made this promise: "Cuba Does Not Need To Fear A Threat From the United States." Of course, by the time President Obama flew back to the U. S. on Air Force One the more powerful Anti-Cuban forces in Miami and in Washington had already begun successfully to make a lie of Obama's sincere and brave sentence that is shown above. In case you missed that sentence shown above, here it is again: "Cuba Does Not Need To Fear A Threat From The United States.'
Of course, in 2016 President Obama and the world quickly learned again that the Counter Revolutionary Cuban-Americans in Miami's Little Havana neighborhood have dictated the USA's Cuban policies since 1959, which was the year that the Cuban Revolution overthrew the U.S./Mafia-backed Batista dictatorship. And now in the first two weeks in 2025 the Miami-Little Havana Cubans such as Marco Rubio, the Diaz-Balart brothers, and Ileanna Ros-Lehtinen continue to have a firm grip on U. S. Cuban policies -- not Presidents such as the last three -- Obama, Trump, Biden. Now starting on January 20th in 2025 the second 4-year term as President for Donald Trump will once again permit Miami-Little Havana to tell him what to do regarding Cuba. That, of course, means that rich Little Havana Cubans in Miami will continue to benefit from the six-decade-old EMBARGO/Blockade that will continue to starve and deprive this latest generation of everyday Cuban families in Cuba.
The U. S. media, as reported by The Hill with the above headline in January of 2025, is busy reminding Americans what a wonderful government Batista's dictatorship was in the 1950s until the terrible Cuban Revolution overthrew Batista on New Year's Day in 1959. Below The Hill's typical pro-Batista/anti-Cuba propaganda is highlighted.
Most of the mainstream U. S. media, as usual, starts 2025 supporting the endless U. S. BLOCKADE/Embargo that starves, deprives, and makes miserable the families in Cuba while also enriching and empowering Cuban-American families in the Little Havana section of Miami. One of Washington's most notable media sources -- The Hill -- is just one example of the U.S. Media staunchly promoting the six-decade-old torment of everyday Cuban families in Cuba. Above the typical headline/article blared forth from The Hill in January of 2025 is the Headline/Article shown above: "Why a return to Obama-era policy on Cuba is a Big Mistake." In other words, The Hill in January in 2025 is promoting the continuous six-decade-old U. S. Blockade that has starved three generations of Cuban families in Cuba to appease the rich and politically powerful Cuban-Americans in the Little Havana section of Miami. Of course, the Gallup and other polls now report that very few Americans "trust" the Mainstream U. S. Media, but it still saturates the United States with whatever propaganda it chooses.
As you can see from the January-2025 headlines and photo from the London-based Reuters Worldwide News Agency, most non-U.S. media sources report accurately and honestly about conditions in Cuba. And, YES, most of the non-U. S. media considers the ageless U. S. EMBARGO/Blockade on Cuba as a prime example of a few rich people in a powerful nation being allowed to benefit from and profit from tormenting masses of vulnerable people in a much smaller and much weaker nation.
On January 10th in 2025 this photo and caption from American First posted this image of former Democratic President Barack Obama and former Republican President Donald Trump speaking amicably and wildly at the funeral of former Democratic President Jimmy Carter who died at age 100 this month. Since 1959, for the most part, in the U. S. two-party political system Democratic presidents like Obama and Carter have tried to normalize relations with Cuba while Republican presidents such as Trump support starving Cuba in order to overthrow the Cuban Revolution that overthrew the U.S./Mafia-backed Batista dictatorship way back in January of 1959. To the glee of Cubans in Miami and to the fear of Cubans in Cuba, starting on January 20th in 2025 the new U. S. President will AGAIN be Donald Trump.
Should Cuba be freed from the clutches of Little Havana USA?
Almost the entire world SAYS "YES!"
Yes, outside of Miami and Washington most of the world hopes for a United States that will "FREE CUBA." But don't expect in 2025 the U. S. to even consider the problem that shames the U. S. more than it shames Cuba.
As a lifelong Democracy-loving American I am abundantly aware that the U. S. media is not a good place to get honest news regarding U.S-Cuban Relations. But there are some good U. S. sources, such as the two books shown above: "Havana Nocturne" by the great T. J. English and "Cuba Confidential" by the great Ann Louise Bardach. The greatness of these two books is clearly explained by the two very pertinent sub-titles shown above: "How the Mob Owned Cuba and Then Lost it to the Revolution." and "LOVE AND VENGEANCE IN MIAMI AND HAVANA." In other words, propagandized Americans need to know how and WHY..."how the Mod owned Batista's Cuba and then lost it to the Cuban Revolution." And then of course Americans also need to know all about "Love and Vengeance in Miami and Havana since January of 1959."
For sure...Cuba's extreme beauty, its extremely important location a few miles south of Florida, its extreme potential, and its extremely interessting and intriguing history make Cuba an island and a nation that should be friends with its northern neighbor, the superpower United States. After all.....................................................
..................back in the 1940s and 1950s when ruthless dictator Fulgencio Batista very ruthlessly ruled Cuba, the United States allowed major U. S. companies to make vast fortunes in Cuba while the U. S. government and the U. S. media wildly pomoted Tourists with lots of dollars to visit Cuba's massive tourist attractions such as the beautiful Varadero Beach that is just a few miles south of Key West, Florida.
Well...in January of 2025 Varadero Beach -- "The World's Best Beach" -- is still a few miles due south of Key West, Florida. But since 1962 Cuba's northern neighbor, the United States, has used the EMBARGO/Blockade to starve Cuba's economy while HOPING that it will induce the Cuban people to overthrow their own revolutionary government. Of course, six decades later that hasn't happened but there is renewed hope in 2025 that the EMBARGO/Blockade {or something else} will finally starve Cuba into submission, and it might well finally happen in 2025...and if it does expect hordes of U. S. tourists and millions of U. S. dollars to again flood Varadero Beach.

Yes, Fidel Castro STILL Rules Cuba!!!

66 Years After His Revolutionary Win!!

And Nine Years After He Died

Today is January 7th in 2025. The photo and quotation shown above was from January 7th in 1959. The historic photo and quotation was in Matanzas, the city just an hour's ride from Havana. It was the last leg of the 500-mile "Liberty Caravan" led by Fidel Castro and his most important revolutionary companion Celia Sanchez on their dilatory trek from Santiago de Cuba to Havana after the Cuban Revolution had shocked the world by defeatting the US/Mafia-backed Batista dictatorsship. The trek ended the next day in the capital city of Havana. But all along the way the Liberty Caravan stopped in cities where the new revolutlonary leader Fidel Castro made fiery sppeches before adoring crowds. In the stop in Matanzas shown above, translated from Spanish to English, Fidel was saying: "I am sure that the freedoms that our people have won with so much sacrifice, nothing and no one will be able to take them away again. I can sure that the days of terror will not return, that the days of terrible fear are behind us, that the days of torture, beatings and murder are far behind us."
It was appropriate, of course, that Celia Sanchez was at Fidel Castro's side on the week-long road trip from Santiago de Cuba to Havana in the first week of January in 1959. Celia fought side-by-side during the Cuban Revolution's war and, as shown above, she was also at Fidel's side during the nights when they planned the next day's battle plans or tried to get an hour or so sleep.
And also, let it be known, that after the revolutionary victory it was Celia Sanchez who was the prime decision-maker in Revolutionary Cuba. Above Celia was starting her day writing down a law that Fidel would without hesitation make into a valid law in their rule of Revolutionary Cuba. From the start of the revolutionary war till she died on January 11th in 1980 of cancer at age 59 in Revolutionary Cuba, Celia was the prime decision-maker...with Fidel's total concurrence

And, also appropriately, it was Celia Sanchez whose quotations best described the Cuban Revolution that was led from start to finish by her and Fidel Castro. The two quotations shown above are perhaps the two best Celia Sanchez depictions about the Cuban Revolution, a revolution that she knew better than anyone else.
In 2016 Fidel Castro died peacefully at age 90 in Havana. Still in January of 2025 Fidel Castro's legacy rules Cuba, although the island is holding on only barely -- as the headlines below on January 7th in 2025 reveal.
The headline above in The Wall Street Journal, the USA's largest newspaper, is an example of dire news predicting Cuba's demise heading into another Trump Presidential Administration that begins on January 20th, 2025.
As shown above, on January 7th in 2025 the powerful Orlando Sentinel newspaper in Southern Florida blared the headline above. That headline fronted the great and historic photo by the AP's John Rous that was taken on January 7th in 1959, which was the week that the victorious Cuban Revolution had made Fidel Castro the undisputed leader of Cuba.
And Yet...66 years later Fidel Castro's words still rule Cuba.

Cuba in January of 2025 66 Years After the Revolutionary Victory

In the first week in January in 1959 the victory of the historic Cuban Revolution was being celebrated by Raul Castro and his big brother Fidel Castro.
Now in the first week in January in 2025 many Cubans are celebrating the start of the 66th Year of the Cuban Revolution's rule in Cuba. Most of those Cubans consider the Revolution's longevity even more surprising than the Revolution's original victory that shocked the world in the first week in January in 1959.
Later in this New Year in 2025 -- on June 3rd -- the 94th Birthday for Raul Castro's will be celebrated in Cuba as a vivid reminder of the Cuban Revolution and its longevity. At 93-years-old Raul Castro still is a force on the island.
From the start of the Cuban Revolution in July of 1953 until the triumph in January in 1959, Fidel Castro and Raul Castro fought side-by-side and then planned side-by-side until Fidel died peacefully at age 90 in Havana in 2016.
In this first week in January in 2025 it is a fact that Raul Castro's prime focus is to preserve the overwhelming legacy of his brother Fidel Castro. It is also known that Raul's favorite quotation left behind by Fidel Castro is the one shown above. Translated to English, it says: "Those who are right never flee. Those who are right know how to die."
And by way, if you make a Google Search seeking the Top Cuban Headlines flashing around the world in this first week in January of 2025, the TOP FOUR are depicted above.

Cuba Says the Revolution will ":Survive" in 2025

But most observers don't think so!!
On January 1st in 1959 Fidel Castro's Cuban Revolution shocked the world by overthrowing the US/Mafia-backed Batista dictatorship. But even more shocking is the fact that in 2024 was the 65th Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution actually being able to still rule Cuba...eight years after the death of Fidel Castro at age 90.
Cuba's current President Miguel Diaz-Canel is shown above telling the Cuban people at the close of 2024 to not believe the rampant rumors that the revolutionary rule in Cuba will finally end in the New Year of 2025. His words above said: "We are an optimistic people , resilient and creative."
The YouTube video above shows President Diaz-Canel telling Cubans that: "The Cuban Revolution has survived and will stay that way in 2025."
But, for sure, 65 Years is an extremely long time for the Cuban Revolution to defy the continuous attempts to overthrow it by a close neightbor, the United States, that happens to be the richest and strongest nation in the whole world.
It took the Cuban Revolution six years -- July 26-1953 till January 1-1959 --to "triumph" over a powerful dictator, Batista, who was supported by the strongest criminal organization in the world, the Mafia, and by the strongest nation in the world, the United States. But I agree that 2024 will likely be the 65th and last full year of the Cuban Revolution being independently and totally in control of the Caribbean's largest and most beautiful nation.
The continuous U. S. efforts to overthrow the Cuban Revolution since 1959 include the air-land-sea Bay of Pigs military attack in 1961. Fidel Castro himself raced to the frontlines to famously defeat that invasion, which remains a humiliation for the U. S. and a glorious epic for the Revolution
But in 1962, after 1961's disastrus Bay of Pigs attack, the U. S. imposed a massive economic EMBARGO against Cuba. It has existed for an amazing 62+ Years and has been tightened even more in the past five years by the Trump-Biden presidential administrations. The purpose of the EMBARGO was and is to restrict or block two financial lifelines for Cuba -- trade and tourism. In 2024 the EMBARGO has been the harshest it has ever been for Cuban families who head into 2025 with shortages of food, medicine, hygiene products, etc., and also are facing continuous island-wide power blackouts. Therefore in 2025 Cuba must make concessions to the United States during the second four-year presidential term for Donald Trump or Cuba will either totally collapse financially or risk being overwhelmed physically by the world's economic and military Superpower. The U. S. EMBARGO was unmercifully tightened at the end of President Trump's first term in 2016 when he placed Cuba on the Sponsor of Terrorism List and President Biden has refused to remove Cuba from the drastic Terror List, and therefore in 2025 Cuba must submit to the U. S. or negotiate.
Whatever Donald Trump's 2025 Calendor portends for Cuba remains to be seen. But his second 4-year term as President of the United States, which starts on January 20th in 2025, will show him as a stronger U.S. and world leader than he was during his first 4-year term as President. This time he is coming off a smashing victory in the November 5th-2024 presidential election when he won a whopping 312 electoral votes, won all seven of the so-called "swing" states, and also won the overall national votes although he is vehemently opposed by most of the U. S. media and by the USA's most populated and richest states of New York and California. And this time President Trump starts with a majority support in the Supreme Court, both branches of Congress, and the White House that are the FOUR prime pillars of the U. S. government. Most observers believe that Trump in 2025 will burnish his Cuban legacy by overthrowing the Revolution in Cuba. But Trump is nothing if not unpredictable. He is a quintessential deal-maker, which made him a multi-billionaire. He admires Cuba's vast financial potential and, indeed, once sent a top echelon of business assocaites to Cuba to scout out the best places to build his new hotels, golf courses, etc.
But the suggestion IS THIS: In 2025 President Trump will have the power to either overthrow Revolutionaly Cuba or negotiate a deal that might change leadership positions on the island but also be beneficial to both Cuba and the United States.
Another interesting factor about Cuba heading into 2025 is the fact that Raul Castro appears to be physically and mentally healthy as he heads toward his 94th BIRTHDAY on June 3rd in 2025. From the start of the Cuban Revolution on July 26th in 1953 until Fidel Castro died on October 25th in 2016 at age 90, the two Castro brothers fought together side-by-side.  And Raul remains the greatest defender of Fidel's legacy. And, yes, in 2025 if President Trump overthrows the Cuban Revolution or makes a deal with it, Raul may play a part in either process.
And by the way: exactly 43 years ago on December 31st in 1971, Fidel Castro closed out 1971 with this quotation:

27.12.24

NY Times Pinpoints Cuba's Disaster on Dec. 27, 2024.

Americans Need to Know About it!!

Today is December 27th in 2024 and above is the glaring headline and sub-headline today in the New York Times. It is an extremely long and extremely important update about the severe tragedy unfolding just below the USA's southern border in Cuba. And the superpower United States is largely responsible although the majority of Americans have for decades been programmed not to give a damn.
Above is the start of the New York Times article on December 27th in 2024 that is telling the world of the severe tragedy everyday families in Cuba are experiencing without any help from the nearby United States, and, in fact, largely because of the United States. For decades, of course, democracy-loving Americans like me have been told to pretend that the U. S. was right to lavishly support the thieving and brutal Mafia-fueled Batista dictatorship in Cuba until it was amazingly overthrown in 1959 by the Cuban Revolution. And since 1959 the United States has cruelly punished Cubans on the island as one of the many drastic schemes to get them to help overthrow their revolutionary government. Today's huge New York Times article explains all that but, as usual, Americans are programmed not to care.
Today's New York Times article today -- on December 27th in 2024 -- reported that only once since 1959 has the U. S. tried to normalize relations with Cuba. That, of course, was when President Obama visited Cuba in 2016 and used a nationwide radio & television broadcast to tell the Cuban people: "Cuba Does Not Need To Fear A Threat From The United States." The New York Times today reported that, thanks to President Obama, Cuban families for the next "two and a half years" breathed huge sighs of relief, but then soon learned that Obama's promise became just another U. S. lie.
When another generation of Americans are persuaded to accept what many believe are genocidal measures by the U. S. against innocent Cubans, the four short paragraphs shown above in the long New York Times article on December 27th in 2024 is what citizens in the U. S. democracy need to know. As revealed each year by the almost unanimous vote of the 189 nations at the United Nations in New York, the rest of the world EACH YEAR begs the United States to treat Cuba the way the U. S. treated Batista's Cuba in the 1950s and the way it has treated Cuba's neighbors since 1959, such as allowing Cuba to also have trade and tourism dollars reach the island of Cuba.
Indeed, as the New York Times tells the world on December 27th in 2024, the United States showers its Caribbean neighbors with massive tourism dollars including having major money-creating events-such as golf, basketball, etc., tournaments in the Bahamas, Jamaica, etc., and having all of the 30 Major League Baseball Teams having very lucrative year-around baseball facilities operating in the Dominican Republic, etc. Meanwhile...the word "GENOCIDIO" is something that Cubans on their island see on billboards everyday. The New York Times today -- on December 27th in 2024 --- seems to be asking this question: "WHY HAS THIS TRAGEDY EXISTED FOR ALL THESE MANY DECADES?"
