WHY Is U. S. NOT Helping In Cuba's Fiery Disaster?

For the most part, neither the U. S. government nor the U. S. media has adequately acknowledged or helped Cuba fight what has been the latest vast explosion and fire that direly concerns the island's people. For five days the raging inferno largely destroyed the vital oil depot in Matanzas 65 miles east of Havana. Already -- on the heels of the COVID pandemic and the everlasting U. S. Embargo -- cities in Havana and across the island were facing dreadful energy blackouts. But thanks and congratulations to NBC News for the blazing headline above that today -- on August 10th, 2022 -- tried to remind the American people what they are ignoring across the Florida Straits.

Yamil Lage, the great Cuban photojournalist for the vast Paris-based AFP News Agency, has saturated many newspapers and other venues around the world with photos for the last five days that are chronicling the devastating fires in Matanzas. Both the Paris-based AFP and London-based BBC News Agencies have reported that, unlike the United States, that Mexico quickly dispatched help to fight the Matanzas inferno.

NEIGHBORS: US & Cuba.

Deadly Cuban Fire Still Rages on August 9th

For the 5th straight day today -- August 9th, 2022 -- the deadly fire at the vital power facility 65 miles east of Havana in Matanzas continues to rage. The Associated Press article today says it now "jeopardizes Cuba's entire and already fragile electric and power systems."
Today's AP article by journalist Andrea Rodriguez says "The governments of Mexico and Venezuela" are helping Cuba contain the tragedy but after the dramatic explosion destroyed one tank, now a second and a third tank have also been eliminated, with a fourth also threatened.

U.S. Ignores Cuba's Pain

Today -- on August 8th, 2022 -- this is one of the most viewed photos in the world. It was taken by Yamil Lage, the great photojournalist in Cuba for the Paris-based AFP News Agency. It shows two Cubans looking across the bay in Matanzas, 65 miles from Havana, where four days ago the latest explosion and fire that has rocked the island by destroying vital oil tanks...further devastating the already devastated Cuban economy.

Today -- August 8th, 2022 -- the passionate Cuban-American professor Carlos Lazo is back in Cuba at the scene of the devastating explosion and fire four days ago that destroyed vital oil tanks in Matanzas, 65 miles east of Havana. Carlos is the USA's most ubiquitous Cuban fighting desperately to help the Cuban people on the island, using his Bridges of Love foundation, Social Media, and other forums. Above from Matanzas today...on Facebook...he is also lambasting Miami's U. S. Senator Marco Rubio who is currently asking the FBI "to investigate" Carlos.

Two of the world's top News Agencies -- London-based Reuters and Paris-based AFP -- believe that the latest extremely massive Explosion and Fire in Cuba is, indeed, a big deal...and yet another dire blow to the Cuban people already reeling from food shortages, medical shortages, blackouts, etc., from the Twin Perils of the U. S. Embargo/Blockade and the COVID pandemic. Meanwhile, Miami's exalted U. S. Senator Marco Rubio is urging the FBI to investigate Carlos Lazo, the Cuban-American professor who is devoting his life to trying to make sure that Cuban families on the island don't starve!! Today -- on August 8th, 2021 -- the Reuters headline shown above tells the world the new turmoil Cuba has faced in the past three days since a massive explosion at the vital power tanks in Matanzas, 65 miles east of Havana.
The Reuters article today explains {see above} that "Mexico and Venezuela" quickly responded to the latest disaster that direly affects every Cuban family on the island.
After other recent explosions and fires in places like Mariel, Havana, etc., Cuba did not ask for international assistance, but this time Cuba did ask for help. The London-based Reuters and the Paris-based AFP News Agency -- as shown above -- shows and tells the world why, this time, Cuba did ask for help. But, for the most part the U. S. media, as usual, doesn't seem to care.
And, meanwhile, Miami's U. S. Senator Marco Rubio is urging the FBI to investigate the awesomely kind and decent Cuban-American professor Carlos Lazo who loves Cuban families on the island...where his mother still lives.
Apparently Senator Rubio wants the FBI to charge Carlos Lazo with...helping Cuban families from starving or being deprived from medicine and other necessities. Carlos founded an energetic organization -- BRIDGES OF LOVE/PUENTES DE AMOR -- that flies planeloads of food and medicine to the island, as shown above. But, OF COURSE, don't expect the pusillanimous U. S. media to ask Senator Rubio about his motives for instructing the FBI to investigate Carlos Lazo.
Meanwhile...the Matanzas fire.

Yet ANOTHER Fire-Explosion Rocks Cuba

Coincidental? Suspicious?

In recent weeks a devastating series of fires-explosions have rocked Cuba...including in the important financial center of Mariel {see map} that is 30 miles southwest of Havana, the capital of Havana itself, etc., and now the key city of Matanzas that is 65 miles southeast of Havana. This weekend {August 6-7, 2022} the island is being shocked again by another massive fire-explosion, this time at a key power plant in Matanzas!!!!
This is the headline today {August 6th, 2022} by the Associated Press's excellent reporter in Cuba, Andrea Rodriguez, regarding the vast fire and explosion in Matanzas.
As you can see above, the AP's Andrea Rodriguez reports that the vast Matanzas fire and explosion was caused by a "lightning strike" according to the Cuban government. Similarly Cuba has suggested the recent explosions in Mariel, Havana, etc., had also been caused by accidental or natural causes.
This is how Cubans saw the devastation of the Matanzas explosion-fire on their TV News broadcasts.
The two photos above by Yamil Lage for the powerful Paris-based AFP News Agency show that on Saturday afternoon {August 6, 2022} Cuban helicopters were still dropping ocean water on the ruins of the Matanzas explosion-fire.
For sure, Cubans are trying desperately to survive the combined throes of the ever-tightening U. S. Embargo-Blockade and also the remaining remnants of the COVID Pandemic. The twin perils are causing shortages of food and medicines on the island as well as intermittent power outages. For sure, everyday Cubans since 2019 believe that their enemies just across the Florida Straits were/are urging the Trump-Biden administrations to take advantage of the added COVID pandemic to tighten the EMBARGO perils even more. While the Cuban government maintains that the drastic series of fires-explosions that have assaulted the economic, tourist, and power structures on the island have been accidental, many everyday Cubans are not sure, and they want more answers.
Meantime, as you see above by the date today -- August 6, 2022 -- Cuban firefighters are still trying to save what remains of the key power plant at Matanzas, Cuba.

Clouds Over Cuba

Yes, there are very dark clouds hovering over Cuba today -- August 5th, 2022. We know that because a great Cuban photo-journalist named Yamil Lage -- who works for the global Paris-based AFP News Agency -- informs the world of that fact. His four photos shown above were also posted on Facebook today. He is confirming that the dark clouds can't conceal the fact that there are food shortages on the island...and medical shortages on the island...and power shortages on the island, etc, etc.
While the Biden administration in Washington like the Trump administration that preceded it have both allowed extreme Counter Revolutionary Cuban-Americans like Democratic Senator Bob Menendez and Republican Senator Marco Rubio to dictate Cuban policy, the ever-tightening U. S. EMBARGO, exacerbated all the more by things such as the Pandemic, have seemingly given Newark, Miami, and Washington the chance to finally overthrow the Cuban Revolution that back in January of 1959 overthrew the U.S.-backed and Mafia-backed Batista dictatorship in Cuba.
At least, the ever-tightening EMBARGO continues to give Cuba the excuse to blame the United States for the island's food, medical, power, and other problems. Cuba's current President -- Miguel Diaz-Canel, who was born after the triumph of the Revolution -- remains very popular with most Cubans on the island. And Fidel Castro, the historic rebel who died at age 90 in 2016, also remains very popular with most Cubans on the island.
Back in the 1950s there was no chance a little rebel uprising could overthrow the rich and ultra-powerful Batista dictatorship, but it did. And since 1959 there has been no chance that Cuba could prevent the rich and ultra-powerful Counter Revolutionary Cubans in the U. S. from overthrowing the Revolution, but it has.
In other words, little Cuba is still doing the impossible...while Cubans in Cuba suffer more-and-more as anointed Cubans in the United States get richer-and--richer.
