Cuba's Stance on the Ukrainian War

Cuba's veteran Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez speaks for Cuba and his official statements about Russia's bloody invasion of Ukraine are generally well-received around the world, including in the United States.
This is Bruno Rodriguez's official statement for Cuba on the Russian-Ukrainian War, which calls for a "serious, constructive and realistic diplomatic solution to the current crisis, one that guarantees the security and sovereignty of all, as well as peace, stability and regional and international security."
The top Cuban headlines today -- March 4th-2022 -- include even a Miami Herald headline that surprisingly spotlights Cuba in a true light: "Ukraine's top diplomat in Havana: Cuba's vote at the U. N. 'gives us cautious hope.'" In the UN, indeed, Cuba refused to support Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Of course, the media that is obsessed with only anti-Cuban propaganda continues to draw wedges between Cuba and anyone that desires honorable relations with the Caribbean's largest island nation. The headline above comes, not surprisingly, from Yoani Sanchez's well-funded digital newspaper 14YMEDIO that is based in her Havana apartment and then flashed around the world.
Of course, Yoani Sanchez has powerful friends in Miami at Radio-TV Marti.
And, of course, Yoani Sanchez has some ultra-powerful friends in the United States Senate.
So, on any normal day the media devoted to undermining Cuba prevails in the United States and around much of the world.
At NBC News Carmen Sesin has been one of the USA's highest-profile anti-Cuban/pro-Miami journalists in the United States. But, surprisingly, this week she and NBC News have penned true journalistic-style articles about Cuba's own very effective COVID-19 vaccines and now she pens a fair article entitled: "U. S. Boosts Embassy Personnel in Cuba."
This is Carmen Sesin's article for NBC News that surprisingly gives Americans an honest view of a topical U.S.-Cuba perspective this week.
A respected spokesman for Cuba, Bruno Rodriguez is rarely recognized in the mainstream U. S. media. But when a source such as NBC News at least quotes Mr. Rodriguez, then perhaps it is a sign that the dismally low rating the U. S. media has with the American people is being uplifted.

U.S. PRAISES Cuba!!!

AT LEAST MORE SOFTLY THAN USUAL

In this first week of March-2022 Cuba, its northern neighbor USA, and the Whole World remains absorbed with the bloody repercussions of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine War. Cubans on the island, as indicated by the headline above by the independent OnCuba News, are being subjected with updated news reports from their state media as well as online articles/videos via international sources such as the BBC and the Social Media giants such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.
The Cuban diplomat who is most respected by unbiased U. S. journalists and politicians, Carlos de Cossio, got a surprise question from a U. S. journalist: "Carlos, the Miami Herald today had an article that actually praised Cuba...at least somewhat. Did you know that?" He smiled and said: "Yes, I read that article. It stunned me. Even Nora Gamez, one of the mainstream U. S. reporters who seem to be devoting their careers to damning Cuba on behalf of Little Havana benefactors, may have even participated today in what you can call a bit of praise of Cuba. Shocking. Yes, I must say it was shocking, at least to me."
This is the Miami Herald article today -- March 3rd--2022 -- that seems to be a glimmer of hope to Cuba's main U.S.-related diplomat Carlos de Cossio. For decades the Miami Herald has led the vast economic and political media assault on Cuba by the Anti-Castro Cottage Industry in the U. S. media on behalf of the ultra-powerful Miami/Little Havana Cubans. Was this little bit of praise today by the Miami Herald heralding a trend to a softer stand regarding Cuba?? PROBABLY NOT. But when a little nation has been cruelly blockaded for over six decades by a superpower neighbor, a glimmer of hope from the Miami Herald today was able to put a smile on the face of an important Cuba diplomat...Carlos de Cossio.
Like most Cubans in Cuba Carlos de Cossio makes use of Social Media. Above you can see that at 7:13 A. M. this morning on 03 March 22 he fired off this Tweet. It related to the fact that Cubans who would love to have normal relations with the U. S. are frustrated that President Biden has cruelly continued the uniquely cruel attack on Cuban families imposed by the Trump presidency. For example, to appease his financial-political pals in Little Havana, Trump made Western Union close its hundreds of offices in Cuba that processed remittances from U. S. Cubans to needy Cubans on the island. de Cossio has repeatedly said, "Rubio and the other Little Havana Cubans have had the support of the whole U. S. government to get rich themselves while using the blockade and criminal Helms-Burton Act to starve Cuban families on the island. Trump and Biden shutting the Western Union offices in Cuba was to make sure Cuban families starved even quicker than Little Havana's Helms-Burton piggybank has intended that they starve." Well, to translate Carlos de Cossio's tweet today, here is what he says above: "So the U. S. banned remittances via Western Union to Cuba, which charged about $5 for every 100 shipped, to apparently authorize formulas that charge the sender up to $30 per 100." In other words, in the Tweet above and as he has stated repeatedly, Carlos de Cossio is repeating his seminal claim that Rubio and the other Little Havana benefactors lie about "every word they speak to benefit themselves while also using the U. S. government to try to starve Cuban families." In that manner, in his Tweet today, Carlos de Cossio is pointing out that Little Havana lies when it claims most of the money from the remittances goes to the Cuban government, not to Cubans families.
And so, today -- March 3rd-2022 -- above are the main Cuban headlines. The London-based The Guardian reminds the world that 6-plus decades of cruel sanctions against Cuba have not led to the recapture of the island for Little Havana stalwarts in Miami and in Congress. NBC News today says the U. S. is boosting its embassy in Havana that Obama briefly reopened fully for the first time since 1961 till Rubio quickly persuaded Trump to gut it, hurting both Cubans in Cuba and in the USA. And the other two Top U. S. Cuban Articles today are from the Little Havana-aligned Miami Herald. Both of those articles, INCREDIBLY, even take a few words to praise Cuba {and its close ally Nicaragua} for failing to support Russia in the United Nations regarding the Ukrainian War. So these three paragraphs in the Miami Herald are indeed a surprise to Carlos de Cossio:
As Cuba's top diplomat related to the island's relationship with the United States, Carlos de Cossio made a definitive statement the day a Trump supporter fired 30+ rifle shots at and into the Cuban embassy in Washington while de Cossio and 12 of his aides were inside. He said: "When a Cuban from Little Havana in Miami such as Marco Rubio can dictate Cuban policies to the U. S. government, how can the United States still say with a straight face that it is a world-class democracy comprised of 330 million people. In the 1950s U. S. businesses made fortunes in Cuba along with the Batista/Lansky mafia. Today Little Havana Cubans are doing the same."
During his long career as a Cuban diplomat towards the United States,
Carlos de Cossio has been rudely ignored when he has offered a Handshake to the U. S. government or even a Statement on behalf of Cuba to the U. S. media. But today, as quoted into English earlier, he at least made the statement shown above via Twitter. And, along with some non-belligerent paragraphs in the Miami Herald today, perhaps that is something that might portend a Handshake in the future.
Neither Cubans on the island nor most Cubans in Miami want Cubans in Cuba to starve even as the cruel Helms-Burton Act remains being expanded. So the huge headline above on March 2nd-2022 brings hope for more sanity in U.S.-Cuban relations: "CANADIAN COMPANY BEGINS SENDING REMITTANCES TO CUBA WITH PERMISSION FROM THE U. S. GOVERNMENT." WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cuba!! BEAUTIFUL CUBA!!!!

Is Cuba's Varadero Beach the Most Beautiful and Best Beach in the Whole World...or is it just the Second Most Beautiful and Second Best Beach in the Whole World??? For sure, Varadero has often been listed the World's Best and Most Beautiful Beach in the Whole World. But TripAdvisor, the world's top Travel Site in its new 2022 listing, rates Varadero Beach #2 in the Whole World. Further west in the Caribbean #1 according to TripAdvisor is Providenciales Beach. In 2002 the top U. S. beach is #13, Hapuna Beach in Hawaii. The top 2002 beach in Florida is #14, Siesta Beach.
Varadero in Cuba is also flush with some of the best 5-star hotels in the Caribbean...and is served by two nearby international airports plus Marti International in Havana.
These two Canadian children are getting ready to go snorkeling in Varadero Beach's pristine and uniquely clear-blue waters. Except for the six-decade-old U. S. Embargo/blockade of Revolutionary Cuba, Americans also would be able to enjoy Varadero.
As you can see in the above map, Varadero Beach is due south of Florida-USA...a nice one-hour drive on the coastline from Havana, a drive I have taken. Except for the lucrative embargo driven by Little Havana Cubans in Miami for the past six decades, it is believed that Varadero Beach would have more tourists than Florida's rich beaches. Is, uh, that one reason Miami Cubans love the Blockade?

Cuba As February-2022 Ends

Today is February 27th, the next-to-last day of the second month of the tumultuous year of 2022. This photo today by notable Cuban photojournalist Roberto Suarez shows a rather busy Jose Marti International Airport in Havana. Trying desperately to survive the tightened six-decade-old U. S. Blockade as well as the COVID-19 Pandemic, Cuba remains determined to somehow continue as the Caribbean's largest and most targeted sovereign island nation.
Today -- Feb. 27-2022 -- a massive protest against the U. S. Blockade of Cuba took place in Miami, the nearby Cubanized Counter Revolutionary bastion that has, since 1959, been the prime instigator and the prime benefactor of the endless U. S. Embargo/Blockade of Cuba. Millions of Americans, and billions of people around the world, consider the Blockade to now being comprised of genocide against Cuban families on the island, especially since President Trump, followed surprisingly by President Biden, has sharply tightened the endlessly cruel, but lucrative, Blockade. The protest shown above in Miami today was led by two fierce and indefatigable Americans -- the ubiquitous Cuban-American professor from Seattle, Carlos Lazo, and the fierce and indefatigable American journalist, Media Benjamin.
Of course, the mainstream media will not mention this huge Counter Blockade Protest in Miami today. And that's typical, and not because the bigger headlines correctly are reserved this weekend for the massive Russian-Ukrainian War.
For sure, one of the most nagging facets about the 6-decade-old+ U. S. Blockade of Cuba is the fact that a few people in Miami and in Congress and in the White House have dictated the pain, the narratives, and the lucrative economic & political rewards from the superpower United States blockading the Cuban people on their island for so long. Incredibly, within the bowels of the U. S. Democracy it doesn't matter that most Americans, most Cuban-Americans, and most people in the World {as repeatedly voiced at the UN} oppose the Blockade!!! What does matter, it seems, is how the Blockade profits and/or empowers already rich and powerful Cuban-Americans in Miami!!!
For sure, if you are Maria Salazar from Miami & from the U. S. Congress, you can go on national television any hour of the day and tell the nation how perfect the Cubans in Little Havana/Miami are and how terrible Cubans in Havana/Cuba are. And, of course..."There is no Embargo against Cuba."

On the other hand, if you are Maria Finlay and you are a non-dissident who lives in Havana, the U. S. media pretends you don't exist and don't matter. But this Maria has opinions too!! She says, "I, my children, and my parents have lived in the binds of the U. S. embargo all of our lives. But now both Trump and Biden have enlarged it into a genocidal blockade. If the powerful U. S. can get away with that as far as the American people and the people around the world are concerned, perhaps the Americans, overall, are in worse straits than we are. At least we have something to fight for...sovereignty!!"

Blockade Saddens Most Cubans the Most

The popular Cuban photographer Roberto Suarez posted this photo on Facebook today -- Feb. 25th-2022. It shows Cubans on a dock watching a huge ship arrive in Havana Bay.
Meanwhile, like citizens all around the world, Cubans on the island are keenly watching the now bloody and ongoing Russia-Ukraine War that is roiling Europe...and the world.
Meanwhile, Cuba's famed anti-Cuba dissident journalist Yoani Sanchez today posted her typical anti-Cuba notice on Facebook, and elsewhere, about Cuba's "support for Russia" in the Russia-Ukraine War. From her apartment in Havana Yoani Sanchez publishes her well-funded anti-Cuba 14Y Medio digital newspaper all around the world daily.
Of course, Yoani Sanchez -- the most famed anti-Cuban dissident in Cuba -- is a dear friend of U. S. Senators Rubio & Menendez, the two most powerful anti-Cuban dissidents in the United States.
And meanwhile today -- Feb. 25-2022 -- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel -- was in the far eastern tip of the island in the town of Guantanamo, near the U.S.-occupied Guantanamo Bay and its ubiquitous U. S. military base/prison.
While in Guantanamo, President Diaz-Canel -- Cuba's former Education Minister -- spent much time with schoolchildren. He asked the girl on his right what you are happy about. She said, "I am happy about my family, my school, and my country." He then asked her what she might be sad about. She said, "The American blockade and the pandemic makes me sad."
In Guantanamo today, as usual, President Diaz-Canel asked for Cubans to tell him what it is on their minds...especially everyday citizens as well as local officials.
From Havana in the west to Guantanamo in the east, the saddest thing in the minds of most Cubans is the U. S. blockade, which began as an economic embargo 60 years ago -- in February of 1962. While designed to starve and overthrow the island's Revolutionary government, in February of 2022 it is now considered "genocidal" to most Cubans and "the largest/longest blockade in history ever imposed by any large nation against any small nation."
At the end of February 2022 Cuba remains the largest island nation in the Caribbean and it's right on the USA's southern doorstep. With normal relations with the United States...as President Obama envisioned in 2016...Cuba would soon become the most prosperous Caribbean nation...and one of the USA's best Trade Partners. Of course.............
.........those who benefit from embargoing/blockading Cuba will prevail, so even if the vast majority disagree, they will continue to PREVAIL for another six decades or so.
