US & Canadian Hypocrisy Hurts Everyday Cuban Children

Since 1903 the United States has had an expensive and controversial U. S. Naval Base on Cuban soil on 45 plush acres at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba...although the U. S. also has many military bases in the Caribbean/Puerto Rico and in nearby Florida as well as other states. And since 1962 the United States has imposed a starvation-inducing economic EMBARGO on Cuba that in June of 2024 is indeed creating international headlines about starvation and blackouts in Cuba. The U. S. since 1903 and 1962 has justified its Cuban military base and its EMBARGO by merely claiming that "we are the good guys and the Cubans since 1959 are the bad guys.'" That reference to 1959 refers to the year that the Cuban Revolution overthrew the brutal US-backed and Mafia-backed Batista DICTATORSHIP, which of course permitted rich U. S. companies to rake in vast fortunes prior to 1959. Although almost all the rest of the citizens in the entire world strongly oppose both the U. S. Military Base in Cuba and the EMBARGO of Cuba, because the U. S. is the strongest and richest nation in the world those two things have been allowed to exist FOR DECADES...so it doesn't matter who are the good guys or the bad guys!!
The glaring headline shown above is flashing around the world in late June of 2024 from the powerful Reuters news agency based in London. It is a reminder that other Democracies, such as Canada, bow to the Superpower U. S. when it comes to things such as the endless EMBARGO and the endless U. S. Naval Base in Cuba.
Canada, as a supporter of  the U. S. Cuban policies, believes Cuba should just submit to the foreign superpower and not seek help from other nations that MIGHT try to help.
Meanwhile, in June of 2024 there are indeed some children in Cuba who need assistance with food, as this Washington Post photo points out. This Cuban child doesn't know about the EMBARGO nor does she know about the reason for the powerful U. S. Naval Base in Cuba. But she knows hunger. And please understand that this little Cuban girl is not the "bad guy" in this cruel food cycle, and that fact begs the question about who are the "Bad GUYS" who don't like this little Cuban Child?????

June 18-2024: El Pais says Cuba has collapsed

And "capitalism" is next!!!

Just 90 miles from the United States, Cuba has been visited by competing Russian and United States {and Canadian} nuclear-powered warships in June of 2024. Russia is upset that the United States has supplied Ukraine with sophisticated missiles that have U. S. permission to hit Russsia during the bloody Russia-Ukraine War. Meanwhile, as usual, little Cuba is a mere pawn between warring or imperative powers as all honest observers now agree that 11 million Cubans in Cuba are suffering from food shortages, medical and other dire deprivations, and constant power blackouts. Russia blames Cuba's woes on the tightened U. S. Embargo/Blockade that has existed since 1962 while the United States blames Cuba itself. Regardless of what or who is to blame, Cuban families once again realize that they are mere pawns in war or imperative battles between foreign powers, and finally it now seems that the pugnacious island-nation in June of 2024 is finally collapsing completely around them. Revolutionary Cuba's economy and government somehow made it into the 65th year since it defeated the US/Mafia-backed Batista dictatorship in January of 1959.
Most Cubans, most Americans, most Canadians, and most people around the world want an end to the six-decade-old U.S. EMBARGO/Blockade of Cuba that has existed since 1962. Yet...even as Cuba has collapsed financially in June of 2024 the EMBARGO/Blockade continues. WHY? Obviously some powerful people in Miami and Washington want it to continue while the masses of people that suffer in a small country are simply at the mercy of whatever goals superpowered rich people in rich countries want.
Born in Cuba in 1934, Carmelo Mesa-Lago -- as a writer, author, and lecturer -- has long been a renowned and top international expert on the Cuban economy, which he now says has finally collapsed in June of 2024. In the pages of El Pais, he says that Cuba now has no choice except to submit to the United States and become a capitalist-run country. Based in Madrid, El Pais also has major offices in Barcelona, Mexico City, Washington, and Sao Paulo. The current article by Carmelo Mesa-Lago in El Pais is entitled "TODAY'S CUBA IS A CATASTROPHE."
Meanwhile, on June 18th in 2024, above are the other TOP Cuban headlines also flashing around the world today. As you can, the Russian-U.S.-Canadian nuclear-powered warships that chose to visit poor little Cuba still are creating news.

15.6.24

June 15th during the new 2024 US-Russia Cuban Missile Crisis?

In 1898 the United States easily defeated Spain in the Spanish-America-War in Cuba, making the U. S. the new foreign power dominating Cuba, the Caribbean's largest and most coveted island-nation. In 1903 the U. S. built the U. S. Naval Military Base at Guatanamo Bay on Cuba's eastern tip. Now known as Gitmo, the Cuban Military Base in Cuba also features a controversial prison...although the U. S. already has plenty of federal prisons in the U. S. as well as dozens of ultra-powerful military bases nearby in Florida and in the Caribbean, including in the U. S. Territory of Puerto Rico. Yet, as shown by the above map, the U. S. has had its massive Military Base at Guantanamo Bay taking up 45 acres of plush Cuban soil since 1903!!!
Today -- June 15th in 2024 -- the Cuban-related headlines flashing around the world are very scary with the world's two top nuclear powers -- Russia and the United States -- appearing to square off not so unlike the Cuba Missile Crisis in October of 1962 but this time with 2024 nuclear missiles and not 1962 ones!!
Of course, since the victory by the Cuban Revolution in 1959, Little Havana in Miami and the Miami Herald have promoted anything that might induce the United States to overthrow Revolutionary Cuba. And, for sure, the missile crisis in 1962 and the current missile crisis in Cuba in late June of 2024 were/are prime examples.
You see, Miami is very close to Havana, which now has some Russian nuclear firepower, and Miami is also not very far from Santiago de Cuba, which now has some American nuclear firepower -- especially with competing nuclear submarines now on both ends of the alligator-shaped island of Cuba.

What is known to History as Yellow Journalism relates back to when the two top U. S. newspaper publishers in 1898 -- Pulitzer and Hearst -- launched massive media campaigns to compel the U. S. government to go to WAR in Cuba to replace Spain as the imperative power in Cuba...but they needed to create a pretext for such a WAR. Then, conventiently, the U. S. warship USS Maine blew up with a massive explosion while it was docked in Havana Harbor, killing 261 young U. S. sailors and wounding 102 others. So...Pulitzer and Hearst had their pretext for the easy, short, bloody Spanish-American War in Cuba in 1898. Cuba was the prize but the victory also added other former Spanish pieces such as Puerto Rico to the USA's nascent foreign empire.
Indeed, history remembers the USS Maine.
As planned by the rampant YELLOW JOURNALISM, journalists working for Pulitzer and Hearst were dispatched to Cuba to report that Teddy Roosevelt was the war hero because, in addition to replacing Spain as Cuba's dominant power the plan was to make Teddy Roosevelt the next U. S. President, which also occurred. Now from the concocted Spanish-American War in 1898, please advance to today -- which is June 15th of 2024 -- and study the NEW CUBAN HEADLINES that, eerily, are reminders of both the 1898 Spanish-American War that was so cogently defined by yellow journalism as well as the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis that remains the closest the world has ever come to a nuclear WAR...but remember that 1962 missiles were not what 2024 missiles are!!! So, Please Note below, what the Associated Press, the USA's top news agency, says about the threat --- not the one in 1962 in Cuba but the one now in late June of 2024!!
As indicated by the photo directly above, everyday Cubans are mere pawns in the war-like relations between the world's two nuclear superpowers -- Russia and the United States. Thus, similar to the everyday Cubans in 1962, this everyday Cuban in June of 2024 would love for some foreign nation to help Cuba as his island is still mired by the remnants of the six-decade-old U. S. EMBARGO that has existed since 1962 and has been recently tightened as food shortages, power blackouts, and other sheer deprivations grip Cuban citizens. This Cuban man said, "I think that Russia could help us a little more, but first it has to end the war with Ukraine." Of course, democracy-loving Americans like myself, who have visited the island, realize that everyday Cubans would prefer help, such as in the form of trade, with the nearby United States, not from faraway Russia, China, or others. But, still, Cubans like this man are not getting much-needed help from anyone...certainly not from the United States.

Russian Warships Enter Havana Harbor Today

Today -- June 12th in 2024 -- these photos/caption above on Cuban television show Russian warships docking or entering the Port of Havana. Three Russian warships and a nuclear-powered submarine will remain in Havana till June 17th, 2024. The Russian vessels have been closely monitored by Canadian and United States planes and ships all along the eastern coasts of Canada and the United States.
The three photos above -- on June 12th-2024 -- show Cuban citizens watching three Russian warships and a Submarine entering Havana Harbor. The photos are by Yamil Lage for the Paris-based AFP news agency.

US-Cuba-Russia Tensions Mount In June, 2024

Today -- on June 10th in 2024 -- the worldwide media is reporting that "Tensions escalate as Russia sends submarines to Cuba." Above you can see that headline flashing around the world by the powerful WION News Network headquartered in India. And study all the photos and captions shown below:
The two leaders of Cuba and Russia insist that there will be "NO NUKES ON RUSSIAN SHIPS" that will be visiting Havana in June of 2024 when they arrive in Havana just a few miles from Key West, Florida, and not far from the controversial U. S. Military Base at Guantanamo Bay in southeast Cuba.
Tap the 5-minute YouTube video shown above to watch how "THE CUBAN MISSILE CRISIS" for 13 frightening days in October of 1962 had the whole world shaking with fear. And understand that the Soviet Union and United States nuclear misslies in 1962 were mere toys compared with what the Russian and United States nuclear missiles are in 2024. In the 5-minute video shown above, PLESE NOTE that a last-second decision by one Russian general probably saved the world from a nuclear war in October of 1962.
For sure, Cuba is just a few miles from the United States but thousands of miles from Russia. And, for sure, Cuba is well aware that being friends with the United States would be much better than being friends with faraway Russia.
But the reality is...that the United States, not Russia, has imposed a devastating economic EMBARGO that has surrounded Cuba since 1962, or since 1962 because the U. S. had been unable to overthrow the Cuban Revolution that had overthrown the U.S. backed Batista DICTATORSHIP in 1959. It so happens that the EMBARGO against Cuba, in the past five years under the Trump and Biden administrations, has created massive food shortages, deprivations of many things including much-needed medical supplies, and massive electric power blackouts across the severely targeted Caribbean island. Cuba thus is hoping Russia, which has recently sent some oil to Cuba, will help even more. While the United States shows no signs of easing the six-decade EMBARGO and while Russia claims it will help Cuba survive the EMBARGO, at the moment in June of 2024 perhaps the real question is...what choices do Cuba have TO CHOOSE FROM?????????????
