Cuba Revamps Economy!!

To try to survive the Blockade and Pandemic

Today -- August 4th, 2022 -- Cuba's Central Bank drastically revamped its economy as the island nation tries to emerge from the throes of the U. S. blockade and the almost ebbing pandemic.
The architect of the important change is Alejandro Gil Fernandez, Cuba's Economic Minister.
A massive outside expert on the nuances of the Cuban economy is Pavel Vidal Alejandro, an Economics Professor at the University of Cali. Vidal was once a key strategist at Cuba's Central Bank in Havana. Today he has written extensively on the insightful and respected OnCuba News website about the new economic changes by Cuba.
So on August 4th-2022, as usual, the best place to get the best and most unbiased update on the new and important economic changes in Cuba is to read Pavel Vidal Alexander's decisive article on the OnCuba News website. The website is in either English or Spanish.
This photo today shows everyday Cubans trying to get their own first-hand information at the Metropolitan Bank in Havana regarding the drastic new economic changes. After all, everyday Cubans like these are the ones that will most be affected by the changes. And after all, when a much-more powerful nation levies endless sanctions on a much-weaker nation, everyday people like these are the ones that are most harmed. Of course, since 1962 Americans have been told that the cruel United States sanctions against Cuba are meant to help the EVERYDAY PEOPLE IN CUBA. And, of course, such lies for all these decades have benefited certain people economically and politically in the U. S., and that is why they continue to exist decade-after-decade.

Sen. Rubio Wants FBI to Investigate Carlos Lazo!!

 WONDERFUL?!!?

51-years-old Cuban-American Marco Rubio was born in Miami. Since 2011 he has been a fixture in the U. S. Senate because he is a Counter Revolutionary extremist, the only kind of politician that Miami sends to Washington. As Miami extremists are prone to do, Rubio heads to the Senate's Foreign Relations Committee and, when Republicans lead the Senate, to the Chairmanship of that Committee. Thus since 2011 Rubio's political and economic fortunes {donations, etc.} have been attached to his being the prime promoter of Miami's prime mission...which is to dictate the USA's "CUBA POLICY." That means legalizing U. S. laws designed to help Miami and hurt Cuba.
In that milieu, please take note of the three prime U. S. media's Cuban headlines in this first week of August, 2022. The top headline, which I will address in this forum tomorrow, has an extremist Miami-lobbyist "Latin American expert" telling the world about "The folly of investing in Cuba." That, of course, means to further tighten the genocidal 6-decade-old Embargo against Cuba so Cubans on the island will be starved, deprived, and made miserable -- reasons the Embargo was legalized in 1962. The bottom headline above, which I will discuss Friday, has one of the extremist Miami-lobbyist typically defaming Cuba to glorify Miami. And the middle headline, which I will discuss now, says: "Rubio urges FBI to investigate Cuba's ties to U.S.-based anti-embargo group Bridges of Love." In other words, Marco Rubio wants the U. S. federal government to put Carlos Lazo -- the Cuban-American who founded Bridges of Love prosecuted. WHY? Because Carlos Lazo's foundation devotes its passion to helping Cubans on the island to keep from starving, being deprived, and made miserable by Miami's and Rubio's beloved EMBARGO!!

So who is Carlos Lazo, the lovely man that Marco Rubio wants the FBI to prosecute? A beloved Cuban-American professor in Seattle, Carlos Lazo now passionately devotes his life to helping Cuban families in Cuba...especially the women and children that he believes have faced genocidal assaults from a vast array of Miami-promoted U. S. policies that have been in force since 1962. During the Trump presidency, which drastically tightened the 1962 Embargo, Carlos Lazo and some of his students rode their bicycles the 3,000 miles from Seattle to Washington to beg President Trump and Congress to end or at least ease the genocide against Cuban families. Neither Trump, Congress, nor the Media paid attention. Then Carlos Lazo, upset that President Biden had not eased Trump's Cuban policies, walked the 300 miles from Little Havana in Miami to Washington to beg President Biden to end or at least ease the genocide against Cuban families on the island that appeases Miami's extremists. Again, neither Biden, Congress, nor the Media listened. So Carlos Lazo founded his "Bridges of Love/Puentes de Amor" foundation. He has promoted it wildly daily on Social Media and with Protests in cities across the United States, including Miami.
The USA's Embargo, exacerbated by things such as the Pandemic, has created drastic food, power, and medical shortages in Cuba. Thus, Carlos Lazo and his Foundation have flown planeloads of canned food, medical supplies, etc., to Cuba to massively help Cuban families. Of course, as we have gotten into August of 2022, the vast and lucrative anti-Cuban Cottage Industry headquartered in Miami wants Carlos Lazo's work to be stopped...by imprisoning him, if necessary. Thus, in this first week of August-2022, Miami's U. S. Senator Marco Rubio, according to a prime headline/article in the Miami Herald, is..."urging the FBI to investigate Puentes de Amor."
WONDERFUL!!
Anointed by Miami and Congress to be the prime promoter of the devastating and endless U. S. Embargo of Cuba, Senator Marco Rubio's ongoing job is to make sure Miami's Cubans thrive while Cuba's Cubans continue to be endlessly starved, deprived, and made miserable. While Rubio, the U. S. media, and the U. S. Congress lavishly deny that it is so, they won't even discuss endless examples of Rubio's work that helps Miami's Cubans and hurts Cuba's Cubans.
For example, even the Miami Herald was embarrassed enough to give voice to Cuban mothers and entrepreneurs who took advantage of President Obama's brief window that eased the Embargo enough for them to create tourist-related businesses that successfully made money and employed thousands of Cubans. Yes, even the Miami Herald -- as shown above -- allowed such Obama-helped Cuban women to explain how their businesses in Cuba helped their families and the families of their employers until President Trump allowed "Senator Marco Rubio" to quickly wipe out their businesses. Then, as reported above by the Miami Herald, Rubio didn't have the guts or the decency to even meet with these women when they went to Miami and then to Congress to tell him how how much he was hurting their children.
It is known that Cubans are passionate for Baseball and, per capita, produce the best baseball players of any nation. When President Obama eased the Embargo, Major League Baseball in the U. S. and the Cuban Baseball Federation signed a binding deal in which Cuban players would be treated the same as other Latin American players, with the MLB leaders trying to end the cruel trafficking of defecting Cuban players by criminals. Of course, when Obama was replaced by President Trump, Rubio quickly ended that sane and decent deal between the U. S. Major Leagues and Cuba's Baseball Federation...because Rubio wondered if ending the  cruel trafficking of Cuban players might allow Cuba's government to get a few dollars in the process when Cuban players were signed by Major League teams.

Ending the sane and decent agreement between the Cuban Baseball Federation and Major League Baseball; and ending the successful businesses that Cuban mothers in Cuba had created thanks to Obama, etc., etc. by Miami's U. S. Senator Marco Rubio remains unchallenged, of course. And Rubio didn't ever have to explain his actions, of course.
Of course, when it comes to the likes of Senator Rubio dictating the USA's Cuban POLICY, it doesn't matter one iota that a great and respected journalist, Ken Silverstein, labels Rubio unfit to do so. In the notable article above, Ken Silverstein began his extremely long and minutely investigated report with these exact words: "When it comes to sheer brazen corruption, chicanery and dishonesty there is one candidate who stands heads and shoulders above everyone else and that is the right-wing Cuban-American and Tea Party darling Senator Marco Rubio of -- naturally -- the great state of Florida. Mr. Rubio's entire public image is less tethered to reality than the Wizard of Oz." Of course, as far as I know the great Ken Silverstein was never sued for that long and devastating bio of Marco Rubio. But, of course, neither his donors; nor the U. S. media; nor, of course, the American people are supposed to care who makes U. S. policy regarding Cuba.
But for the record, Carlos Lazo -- the former U. S. soldier and now the beloved Cuban-American professor in Seattle -- today replied to Miami's Marco Rubio's efforts to have the FBI put him in prison. Let's see now...the charge would be that Carlos Lazo, whose mother still lives in Cuba, is passionately trying to keep the U. S. Embargo/Blockade of Cuba from starving, depriving, and making miserable totally innocent families on the island. Above is the start of the reply to Rubio that Carlos Lazo posted on Facebook today -- August 3rd, 2022.

Pressure Builds on US to Ease Blockade

Today -- on August 1, 2022 -- furious anti-demonstrations around the United States -- from Vancouver to Miami to New York, etc. -- have upped the pressure on the Biden administration to end or at least ease the Trump-increased genocide against Cuban families on the island.

Although he is ignored by both the U. S. government and the mainstream U. S. media, Carlos Lazo -- the Cuban-American professor from Seattle -- uses ubiquitous demonstrations as well as the Social Media to tell the world about the genocide that the U. S. Embargo/Blockade imposes on totally innocent Cuban families on the island to appease or benefit "a few rich Cubans in Miami and Congress." Today Carlos Lazo posted -- in Spanish and English -- the Live video shown above on Facebook and other Social Media giants, as he does daily. Yesterday -- on the last day of July-2022 -- he was again demonstrating in the heart of Little Havana/Miami. With a large and growing following, Carlos Lazo regularly flies cargo planes to  Cuba with food, medicine, and other essential items that Blockade-deprived Cuban families desperately need.
Over the last weekend in July-2022 while Carlos Lazo was holding his massive anti-Blockade Caravan in the heart of Miami, other cities across the U. S. such as Vancouver -- inspired by Lazo -- were doing the same thing.
While the U. S. government in Washington and the U. S. mainstream media tries to dismiss Carlos Lazo, he has massively used the Social Media to get his message across to President Biden and to Congress. In the past two weeks a Democratic and Republican group teamed in Congress to write a pleading letter to President Biden to end or ease the genocidal Embargo/Blockade against Cuban families in Cuba. The Congressional letter reminded President Biden that the Blockade was keeping vital medicine and food items from Cuban women and children, indicating that is exactly the essence of genocide when it is done by a powerful nation to a much-weaker nation.
While U. S. journalists appear to have gloves or cuffs on when it comes to writing or telling the truths about Cuba, the great journalist/author for the great London-based Reuters News Agency -- Marc Frank -- regularly writes and speaks the truth and he does it by actually reporting from Cuba where he actually knows the trials and tribulations of Cuban families constantly assaulted by the U. S. Embargo/Blockade that has tried to starve and deprive them since 1962. At the end of July-2022, Marc Frank's international Reuters article -- as shown above -- explained that the Cuban government has told families in Havana that there will be more blackouts because Cuba is forced to concentrate more-and-more of its limited resources on medical and food issues.
And meanwhile, great Cuban-Americans like Carlos Lazo and great international journalists like Marc Frank are letting the world know that the U. S. Embargo/Blockade of Cuba is indeed genocidal for innocent Cuban families on the island to please what Carlos Lazo calls "some rich Cubans in the U. S." "LET CUBAN FAMILIES LIVE!".

Yes, U.S. Cubans Hate the Blockade TOO

But the U. S. Media Denies Such Facts

This Sunday -- July 31st, 2022 -- Carlos Lazo -- will lead a caravan in the heart of Miami to protest the Miami-beloved U. S. Embargo-Blockade of Cuba that has purposely tormented Cuban families in Cuba since 1962...while, of course, enriching and empowering a handful of anointed Cuban-Americans in Miami. While he blames U. S. citizens for allowing this to happen decade-after-decade by the richest and strongest nation in the world, mostly people around the world, including most Cuban-Americans, blame rich and unchecked Cuban-Americans in Miami.
The ultra-passionate Carlos Lazo is a beloved Cuban-American professor in Seattle. He, and some of his students, rode their bicycles the 3,000 miles from Seattle to Washington to beg President Trump to end or at least ease the Cuban blockade because it is devastating Cuban families with food and medical shortages. Of course, neither President Trump nor the mainstream U. S. media paid any attention to Carlos Lazo but they lavishly promote Miami Cubans who want the Blockade in perpetuity {unless Miami's recapture of Havana occurs before then}. Later Carlos Lazo and some of his followers walked the 300 miles from Little Havana-Miami to Washington to beg President Biden to end or at least ease the Cuban blockade. Of course, President Biden and the mainstream U. S. media ignored Carlos Lazo...because a few rich Cubans in Congress like Rubio, Menendez, Salazar, Diaz-Balart, etc., won't give any President or Congress the permission to loosen their hold on the Embargo/Blockade.
Despite being blocked by Washington and Miami, Carlos Lazo has amassed a large Social Media following. He regularly flies planeloads of food, toiletries, and medicine to Cuba to help Cuban families. He sincerely believes that most Cuban-Americans also believe that the United States of America should have "a democratic and decent approach to totally deal with the masses of Cubans in Cuba, as opposed to showing the world that the USA's indecent Cuban policies are meant to  please and apparently reward only a handful of already rich and powerful Cubans in Miami, Newark, and Congress."
Indeed, most people around the world; most Americans; and most Cuba-Americans are ashamed of this famed Carlos LaTuff image of the U. S. Embargo against Cuba. And, YES, most people -- including most Cuban-Americans -- are ashamed of this image of the United States.
In addition to Saturday's Carlos Lazo-led anti-Blockade caravan in the heart of Little Havana-Miami, there are other anti-Blockade caravan protests in other cities this weekend. That includes the highly promoted protest in Vancouver tomorrow -- Saturday, July 30th.

How Cuba Hopes to Survive US Blockade

One of the most important Cubans is Rodrigo Malmierca, the island's Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment. He now says: "We now know that President Biden and Democratic Senator Menendez will continue Miami's decades-old effort to try to starve Cuban families into overthrowing the Revolution for them. And we are fully aware that financial vessels like NED and USAID send bushels of tax dollars to create as many as dissidents as possible. Coupled with our own mistakes as well as other tragedies such as the pandemic, we ourselves must do a better job of battling the Blockade. Improving our economy with such things as revamping our island's new financial initiatives is a must."
Rodrigo Malmierca realized by 2022 that President Biden would not change very much of President Trump's genocidal Cuban policies, and now he says that Cuba must revamp its economy into more market and entrepreneurial realms that allow more foreign investment in "private businesses."
Rodrigo Malmierca said that Cuba has begun an extensive campaign to produce more of its own food as opposed to buying much of it from foreign sources. "That stands as a real weakness of the revolution," he said. The Revolution starting in 1959 guaranteed college educations, free healthcare, and free food if needed for every Cuban. But buying much of it from faraway nations adds to shipping costs and sometimes creates delays, because since 1962 the nearby U. S. Embargo bars buying it from U. S. farmers, many who would love to oblige. Recently Cuba, for example, had major problems providing powdered milk for babies because shipments from faraway New Zealand were delayed. Now across the island, as shown above, food and milk and beef products are being prioritized.
Rodrigo Malmierca's boss, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, is shown above working a field along with young volunteers to encourage the production of more food. Thousands of college students have joined the effort. Diaz-Canel said, "While much of the vast amounts of money the U. S. uses to stabilize and disrupt this island is aimed at our well-educated young people...creating dissidence and encouraging defections. But by in the 1950s when the United States wildly supported the brutal Batista regime so U. S. companies could also make fortunes, while doing nothing to help non-Batistiano Cubans, the great supporters of Fidel and the Revolution came from the poorest Cubans and the universities. That is why Batista closed universities and sent goons to kill student leaders, including historic murders such as that of  Jose Antonio Echeverria, the Student Leader at the University of Havana, and many others. Recently we have lost many such talented young people to defections, but we still have many more who are determined to stay and help Cuba."

Indeed, the name Jose Antonio Echeverria today still reverberates powerfully on the island in the history of the Cuban Revolution. Most of the do-or-die support for the revolution's anti-Batista fervor was on the eastern tip of the island in and around Santiago de Cuba, but in the western tip in and around Havana, the leader was Jose, the head of the Federation of University Students at the University of Havana. That's why Batista shut down the University and sent goons out to kill student leaders like Jose. Then, as shown above, his body was left for awhile just as a warning to others.
And indeed, in these last days of July in 2022, many members of the Federation of University Students remain among the strongest supporters of Revolutionary Cuba. This photo, as an example of that support, was posted on Social Media platforms today -- July 27th, 2022.
But, to be sure, this Reuters report today chronicles the fact that many young Cubans, including top athletes, are leaving the island and defecting to the United States. The article above starts with the defection of world-class discus thrower Yaime Perez who just defected while she was competing in the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
And so...these are the Top Cuban Headlines that many Americans are reading today -- July 27th, 2022. As usual, the Miami Herald leads with an article telling or implying about how much of a hellhole Revolutionary Cuba is while heralding how rich, successful, and powerful the counter-revolutionary Cubans in Miami are. "Bank founded by exile in Miami...!!!" screams the Miami Herald headline today. WONDERFUL. The plan in Miami for six decades, it seems, is for rich Miami Cubans to keep getting richer while making sure to starve Cubans that choose to stay in Cuba. The secondary plan since 1959, it seems, is for Miami -- with the help of the superpower leaders in Washington -- to regain control of Havana. Eventually, of course, it might happen.
