The historic election in Brazil that reelected 77-year-old Lulu da Silva as the new President of Latin America's largest and richest nation has, without doubt, buoyed the spirits of Cubans in Cuba. During his previous two-terms as President of Brazil Lulu was Cuba's most important friend, using his power as Fidel Castro's dear friend to drastically help the Cuban people by doing things such as financing the ultra-modern/deep-water Muriel Port 30 miles southwest of Havana. But, alas, when he left office both he and his top aide {and successor} Delma Rousseff {who also loved Fidel} were charged with corruption that ended Delma's presidency and put Lulu in prison!! But, always beloved by the poorest Brazilians, Lulu left his imprisonment and launched a bid to unseat Brazil's right-wing/anti-Cuban President Zair Bolsonaro...and, INCREDIBLY, Lulu won on October 31st, 2022!!!!!!
The two photos shown above showing Brazilian President Zair Bolsonaro with U. S. President Donald Trump reveal why Cubans in Cuba are so elated that Fidel Castro's dear friend Lulu da Silva started out this first week of November-2022 as President of Brazil, not Bolsonaro!!! During Trump's recent 4-year-old term as U. S. President it was Trump who drastically tightened the U.S.'s already cruel six-decade-old Embargo-Blockade against Cuba, and as President of Brazil Zair Bolsonaro was Trump's prime Latin American collaborator in the attempt to torment Cubans in Cuba.
Today -- on November 2-2022 -- above are the two top Cuban headlines flashing around the world. ABC News reminds us that the shocking election in Brazil continues the trend of more-and-more Latin American countries beginning to buck the drastic U. S. sanctions against Cuba. And the Miami Herald opines that "Lula, in Brazil, will give Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua respite" from the harsh U. S. policies...but that Lulu will be more cautious than he was in his first two terms as President.
Meanwhile today -- on November 2nd-2022 -- Cuban television stations, as shown above, are still gloating gleefully about Lulu's defeat of Trump's friend Zair Bolsonaro in Latin America's largest and richest nation.
Also today -- November 2nd-2022 -- Cuba's President Miguel Diaz-Canel, as shown above, used his Twitter page to emphasize Cuba's prime concern, which is the "injustice and inhumanity of the U. S. blockade against the Cuban people."
This Latin American map vividly shows why Superpower Brazil -- the largest and richest Latin American nation -- is so vital to the interests of Cuba as well as to the United States and all of Latin America.
