Cuba Wants Friendship From Colombia

The recent and monumental election of Gustavo Petro as the new President of Colombia has been heralded by Cubans in Cuba and decried by counter revolutionary Cubans in Miami, Newark, and in the U. S. Congress. Since the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959 most Cubans in Cuba believe that counter revolutionary U. S. Cubans dictate the USA's drastic anti-Cuban policies. And, moreover, Cubans in Cuba believe that the Latin American nation most helping Miami, Newark, and Congress in its drastic Cuban policies has been Colombia. But in June of 2022 the presidential election in Colombia has just elected a left-wing rebel who supposedly will be pro-Cuban. Gustavo Petro, therefore, deeply worries counter revolutionary Cubans in the United States and their monumental supporters in the mainstream U. S. media.
The massive headline in Forbes today -- June 24-2022 --heralded a worrisome article written by Steve Forbes himself.

Without waiting to actually see how Colombian President Gustavo Petro will govern, Forbes and most of the rest of the U. S. media decry him as "a former guerrilla" that will likely change Colombia's and the USA's dire anti-Cuban policies.
It has been reported that Cuba's President Miguel Diaz-Canel was the first leader to call Gustavo Petro and congratulate him for his election to be Colombia's new President. On state media in Cuba and on Social Media platforms, as shown above, Diaz-Canel remains hopeful that now Colombia's alignment with "Miami's and Washington's assaults on Cuban families in my nation will now be refocused by Colombia's more compassion leaders."
And, meanwhile, as shown above, Miguel Diaz-Canel today saluted a Cuban woman named Yamila Gonzalez Ferrer for helping him to pass a new Eliminate Discriminations Against Women Law. Most Cubans on the island supported Miguel Diaz-Canel when he was Education Minister and, since 2018, it appears that most Cubans in Cuba now support Miguel Diaz-Canel as President...according to unbiased sources on the island.

A Concert TRILLS Havana!!

Born 79 years ago in Bayamo, Cuba, Pablo Milanes is a legendary singer, guitar player, and songwriter. Last night -- June 21-2022 -- the legend performed a concert in Havana that electrified the capital city and is still thrilling Cubans today as they discuss it. As he gave them his classic songs such as "Love Me As I Am" the sold-out audience that loves him were enthralled and ecstatic!!
Cubans "had been days before, all night and morning, waiting to buy tickets to see it." And they were not disappointed.
The Legend and his Guitar.
The Legend Pablo Milanes and his Superstar daughter Haydee. Together or solo, Cubans love their concerts and their albums.

Cuba Gains MORE Regional Friends!!!

Led by Mexico's President Lopez Obrador, more-and-more Latin American leaders are vehemently blasting Miami and Washington for what they believe is the USA's "inhumane, criminal, and genocidal policies against Cuban families in Cuba."
And now a smashingly important election in Colombia has elected Gustavo Petro as that country's new President. A former left-wing rebel who was once imprisoned, President Petro is the first left-winger to ever be elected President of Colombia. For decades the U. S. has pumped millions of dollars into Colombia for purposes such as eradicating things such as illegal drugs...and, many believe, to eliminate Revolutionary Cuba!! Now Colombia appears to finally be joining pro-Cuba friends, or at least to finally strongly  oppose the USA's ageless Embargo/Blockade against Cuba.
The U. S. media...including the CNN article above...explains the historic ramifications of the victory in Colombia by Gustavo Petro. Yes, "Colombia has been Washington's closest ally in the region for decades." It has also been Miami's closest friend in Latin America regarding the USA's brutal treatment of Cuba. Now...that might change!!
As the CNN article above also explains, Colombia's new President Gustavo Petro "has his own allies in Washington" and many of them want to end the USA's harsh treatment of Cuba...such as powerful Senator Bernie Sanders who last week joined 26 other key Democrats in the U. S. Congress who sent a scathing letter to President Biden on behalf of Cuban families that are being harshly punished by the draconian U. S. policies.
This is Francia Marguez. She is the new Vice President of Colombia under President Gustavo Petro. During the blistering presidential campaign in Colombia, Francia Marguez was quoted as saying, "For too long the Western Hemisphere has been shamed by the United States unconscionable policies that come down most harshly on women and children in Cuba. For too long U. S. dollars sent to Colombia has supported that terrible policy. Those U. S. dollars should be helping decent children and women in Colombia...and in Cuba."
No one watched the elections from Colombia more closely than Cuba's President Miguel Diaz-Canel!!! He was also the first Latin American leader to congratulate President Petro and Vice President Marguez on their elections.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and millions of other Cubans on the island ubiquitously use Social Media to express their views. As soon as the election results from Colombia were official, there were numerous digital viewpoints such as the two above expressing thanks and congratulations to the voters in Colombia. Cubans on the island sincerely believe that Colombia will become their friend after decades of supporting the U. S. Embargo-Blockade of their Caribbean island nation.
Unlike the Cubans in the U. S. Congress, Cubans in Cuba believe that: "The U. S. blockade of Cuba constitutes the longest and largest genocide in history ever imposed by any powerful nation against any much-smaller nation." And that viewpoint is certainly held by Latin American presidents like Lopez Obrador in Mexico and now, apparently, by Gustavo Petro in Colombia, among others.
And now in June of 2022 Cubans in Cuba hope that the presidential election in Colombia will remind U. S. President Joe Biden of one thing:
 "NO MORE BLOCKADE"
"NO MAS BLOQUEO"

How, Why U. S. Cuban Policy Shames USA

 More than it hurts Cuba?

In the closing days of June-2022 the famed U. S. actor Andy Garcia is the latest rich Cuban-American to defame Cubans on the island. He has been a highly paid Hollywood star for decades. Andy Garcia was born on April 12th-1956 in Havana in the heyday of Batista's brutal Cuban dictatorship when Batista was supported by the United States, the Mafia, and eager flocks of U. S. tourists. The article headlined above about Andy Garcia was in The Hollywood Reporter to promote his latest Hollywood project, and as always he took the opportunity to blast the revolutionary "regime" that ousted the Batista-Mafia regime way back on January 1, 1959. The article said: "When asked whether he longs to return to Cuba, the answer is 'every day,' but the actor says he won't go back. 'I've been Critical of that regime.'" But...is Andy Garcia critical of the Batista regime or critical of things such as the six-decade-old U. S. Embargo of Cuba that many people believe constitutes genocide against the coveted little nation by the world's nearby Superpower...while Andy Garcia has become rich and famous since leaving Havana.

It is now past mid-June of 2022 and since December of 1962 Americans have been programmed to accept this international image of the United States and even meekly to shout "BRAVO!" when they are confronted by it. But...billions of Democracy-lovers don't say "bravo" about this image of America when they see this reminder of the Embargo, and instead they just shamefully cringe.
In 1898 the controversial Spanish-America War that was fought quickly on Cuban soil ended with the U. S. gaining control of Cuba from Spain. What followed were such things as the U. S. endlessly taking control of plush Guantanamo Bay in 1903; U. S. businesses feasting on Cuba; the Mafia in the 1950s arriving with brutality and wholesale thievery that spawned the victorious Cuban Revolution; then came the 1961 Bay of Pigs military attack that was designed to overthrow Revolutionary Cuba, etc., etc. But, from 1898 till 1959, was there really DEMOCRACY in Cuba?? I don't think so, but rich Cuban-Americans such as Andy Garcia appear to pretend there was.
For decades the international votes in the United Nations reveal that almost all of the citizens of the world detest the U. S. EMBARGO-BLOCKADE OF CUBA. And for decades polls in the United States reveal that almost all Americans and almost all Cuban-Americans detest the U. S. EMBARGO-BLOCKADE OF CUBA. And yet, for over six decades the U. S. embargo-blockade of Cuba has existed and has been allowed to paint a dark portrait of the United States of America, the world's strongest and most famed Democracy. During all that time, whenever decent people -- such as in during the Obama presidency -- try to end or ease the embargo-blockade, a handful of rich and powerful Cuban-Americans from Miami, Newark, and in the U. S. Congress swiftly and easily end such SANE AND DECENT EFFORTS!!
Of course, back in the 1950s -- when rich U. S. businessmen were partaking in the wholesale robbery of Cuba by the Luciano-Lansky-Batista dictatorship, the U. S. pretended that the brutal and thieving Batistianos and Mafiosi rulers constituted a nice, wonderful Cuban government.
But then...in January of 1959...the Cuban Revolution kicked the Batistianos and Mafiosi off the island. Thus, since 1959 the all-out effort from Miami, Newark, and Washington to regain control of Cuba has included such things as...the 1961 Bay of Pigs military attack; the 1962 Embargo; the 1976 bombing of Flight 455, the civilian Cuban airplane that was blasted into the ocean killing all 73 people on board, mostly teenage Cuban athletes returning to the island after winning a Central American Championship; etc.!!!
There hasn't been a day in the U. S. media since 1959 in which rich and high-profile Cuban-Americans such as Andy Garcia have not railed about the Revolutionary "regime" in Cuba. Of course, the supposed Batista democracy that preceded it and spawned it was nice and fine, not a regime. One day, perhaps, the U. S. media -- instead of promoting Andy Garcia's Cuban views and his latest lucrative Hollywood project -- should ask this question: "You were born in Havana 66 years ago, Andy. For over sixty years as you have gotten very rich in the United States, things such as the Embargo have been designed to devastate and starve everyday Cubans in Havana and all of Cuba. Is that OK?"

Biden Urged to Ease Cuban Genocide

Rafael Bernal is often called the most powerful Spanish journalist in Washington, and that is good because he is well respected as insightful and unbiased, even IF the news is about Cuba!! He is the Latin American expert for The Hill, one of Washington's most read political giants.
The mainstream U. S. media from the Miami Herald to the Washington Post to the New York Times, etc., is obliged to report only negative news about Cuba, but Rafael Bernal's prime article this week in mid-June of 2022 actually reports real news concerning Cuba that happens not to be anti-Cuba. Some 26 Democrats, it seems, are begging Democratic President Joe Biden to ease former Republican president Donald Trump's genocide against Cuban families on the island.
Rafael Bernal's article, as shown above, explains that some brave members of the U. S. Congress are telling President Biden that engaging with Cuba on such things as "vaccine equity" will help Cubans in Cuba, Cubans in Miami, and everyone else. Therefore these very brave Democrats in Congress are begging President Biden to allow the great U. S. Democracy to stop committing genocide against Cubans on the island to appease a handful of rich and powerful Cuban-Americans in Miami and Newark.
It is important, I believe, that at least a few U. S. journalists -- such as Rafael Bernal in Washington -- report fairly regarding U.S.-Cuban relations. Billions of people around the world agree with this poster that proclaims that the U. S. Blockade of Cuba, since 1962, constitutes history's longest & largest genocide ever imposed by a powerful nation against the people in a much-smaller nation.
The brilliant and influential Brazilian cartoonish Carlos LaTuff has long told the world about the evils regarding the U. S. blockade/embargo of Cuba.
A Carlos LaTuff reminder to the world.
And Carlos LaTuff has reminded the world that the U. S. EMBARGO against Cuban families was tightened by both of the last two U. S. Presidents -- Trump & Biden -- to take advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic on the island.
And also Carlos LaTuff has reminded the world that poor, little, blockaded, and embargoed Cuba has somehow managed to survive history's all-time longest and strongest EMBARGO ever imposed by any powerful nation against any much-smaller nation. Carlos LaTuff, therefore, should be saluted for having the courage, intelligence, and integrity to tell such truths to a world that needs the truth.

Is Biden Opening Doors to Cuba?

Today -- June 16th-2022 -- Morgan Radford, a top journalist at NBC News, had a major report that said that President Biden is "OPENING DOORS" to Cuba. She said that President Biden reversed President Trump's edict that blocked U. S. flights to all Cuban cities except Havana, meaning that the island's other nine international airports were off limits. That was one part of Trump's expansion of the 6-decade-old Embargo that many observers believed expanded the Embargo/Blockade into an undeniably genocidal policy against Cubans on the island.
So, on June 16-2022 the biggest headline pertaining to Cuba in the United States was NBC News proclaiming that the "U. S. begins lifting flight restrictions to Cuba."
In the USA's two-party political system, both of the last two U. S. presidents -- the Democrat Joe Biden and the Republican Donald Trump -- have had approval ratings barely reaching up to the 40% percentile among Voters!! But, in that milieu, the Republicans are still considered to be 100% aligned with starving Cuba's economy to appease Cuban-Americans in Miami, Newark, and in Washington. But the Democrats, especially President Obama -- whose Vice President was Joe Biden for eight years -- have shown some compassion when it comes to starving Cuban families on the island. Thus, when Joe Biden became President in January of 2021 many believed he would reverse most of Trump's genocidal policies. But that has not HAPPENED! Therefore NBC News today reporting that President Biden is "OPENING DOORS" to Cuba is also not happening.
After all, even the Miami-based Progreso Weekly reported that Miami's Republican U. S. Senator Marco Rubio dictated Trump's Cuban policies when he was the Senate's Foreign Relations Chairman...to suit Miami's rich and powerful Cubans.
And, after all, Newark's Democrat U. S. Senator Bob Menendez is now the Senate's Foreign Relations Chairman and many assume that he now dictates President Biden's Cuban policies. So...will Senator Menendez allow President Biden to "OPEN DOORS to Cuba?????? In the meantime, while you ponder that question, it is no surprise that the Senators from Miami and Newark covet the powerful role as Chairmen of the Senate's Foreign Relations Committee whether Democrats or Republicans control the Senate.  After all, Cuba happens to be a foreign nation.
And, after all, Cuba -- strategically located just south of Florida -- is not only the largest but also, arguably, the most beautiful island nation in the Caribbean. That begs the question: If there was no U.S.-imposed Embargo/Blockade, would Cuba be the most prosperous nation in the Caribbean?? PROBABLY!!
