Visitors To Cuba Agree!!
History will always register the fact that Cuba's revolutionary icon Fidel Castro died at age 90 on the evening of November 25th, 2016. His ashes are entombed in a huge rock mausoleum on the far eastern end of the island...his resting place that is near his birthplace. As a high school senior he was voted Cuba's Athlete of the Year. Later...he became a feisty lawyer and then a revolutionary of historic note and notoriety because his two most notable foes were the MAFIA, the strongest and richest criminal organization in the world, and the UNITED STATES, the strongest and richest nation in the world.
Cuba's current President, Miguel Diaz-Canel, was born soon after the triumph of Fidel's Cuban Revolution overthrew the U.S.-backed Batista dictatorship on Janaury 1, 1959 -- an event that refigured both Cuba and the United States forever. Diaz-Canel, the island's former Education Minister, worships Fidel and the Revolution. In his quote above he says: "Nobody will achieve the purpose of weakening the revolution or bending the Cuban people."
Anti-Fidel dissidents on the island, many supposedly funded by USA Counter Revolutionaries and by U. S. tax-dollars, for years had control of Cuba's digital Social Media actions. But that has changed now because most Cubans today have access to the Internet and most own or have access to Smart Phones. The above posting in June-2019 is typical of Social media-enhanced pro-Fidel fervor on the island. The image above states:
"Thank you for being true, thank you for making us men, thank you for taking care of the names that freedom has...Thank you for your dignity, thank you for your faithful rifle, for your pen and paper, for you being a man. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING, FIDEL!"
In recent years fierce pro-USA/anti-Castro dissidents like Yoani Sanchez dominated the digital universe from inside Cuba, and that included Yoani's lushly funded digital newspaper as well as her multifaceted anti-Fidel Social Media pages. Yoani writes from Cuba but she has been allowed to fly around the world to seek funding and, of course, her pivotal destinations have been Miami and the U. S. Congress.
Any anti-Castro zealot who makes it to Miami, as Yoani Sanchez demonstrated in this photo, flocks to the lavish studios of Radio-TV Marti -- which, since the 1980's has absorbed massive and daily pipelines of Washington-to-Miami tax dollars even though everyone in Washington and Miami knows Radio-TV Marti is nothing more and nothing less than a laughable anti-Castro propaganda machine.
And, of course, fierce anti-Fidel dissidents in Cuba, such as Yoani Sanchez, make hasty bee-lines to the U. S. Congress to meet with fierce anti-Fidel U. S. Senators Marco Rubio and Bob Menendez. When it comes to anti-Fidel tax dollars and programs, these two Cuban-Americans are unchecked High Order Kingpins...and out of 535 members of the U. S. Congress, since 1959 there HAVE EVER been enough brave members to challenge the likes of Rubio & Menendez.
But FAR BE IT FROM ME to suggest that Yoani Sanchez left the hallowed corridors of the U. S. Congress literally draped in sticky tax-dollars. But...uh, she did announce when she got back to Havana that she, uh...had the resources to...uh...lavishly fund her digital anti-Fidel newspapers and staff it with, uh...new hires.
And supposedly, if Yoani Sanchez needed more dollars she knew how to phone her benefactors in the U. S. Congress.
In fact, with Cuban-American anti-Fidel zealots like Senators Rubio & Menendez essentially operating as an anti-Fidel government within the bowels of the U. S. government, there is absolutely no need for Yoani Sanchez, Bob Menendez, and Marco Rubio NOT TO LAUGH AND MAKE FUN OF THE U. S. DEMOCRACY as well as ITS COWARDLY CITIZENS, AND ITS PUSILLANIMOUS MAINSTREAM NEWS MEDIA. No aspect of the U. S. Democracy, it appears, has the courage or the integrity these days to check or criticize such shenanigans as apparently take place routinely in the U. S. Congress around such tables as the one you see above.
On her worldwide anti-Fidel travels, Yoani Sanchez above is saying, "Something broke, when some people got out." I'll leave it up to you to decide what she meant.
Anti-Fidel blogs and propaganda, as Yoani Sanchez can attest, are worth A LOT OF "MONEY."
Just a few years ago Brazil, by far the biggest and richest Latin American nation, had 12 straight democratic years in which pro-Fidel extremists, Lula da Silva and Dilma Rousseff, were Presidents. But in June of 2019 Lula da Silva is in a Brazilian prison and Dilma Rousseff was impeached as she tried to serve out her second term as Brazil's President. So today Brazil's new President is extreme right-winger Zair Bolsonaro who is extremely anti-Fidel and extremely pro-Trump. Even so, somebody {see above} appeared surprised that anti-Fidel Bolsonaro ended up standing behind anti-Fidel Yoani Sanchez at a ceremony in which she ended up with a bouquet of flowers and...whatever!!
Like his presidential successor Dilma Rousseff, Brazil's two-term President Lula da Silva worshipped Fidel. Lula now says he was imprisoned to keep him from running for President again. He and Rousseff insist their "crimes" were trying to help the majority poor or middle-class Brazilians and they were ousted because they were spending much of Brazil's wealth to help the poorest Brazilians, which rich Brazilians didn't like.
Recently, Brazil's former two-term President Lula da Silva was released from prison only so he could attend the funeral of his grandson. If you look closely at the photo above, you will note that Lula was escorted to and from that funeral by a heavily armed man wearing a vest emblazoned with the logo "MIAMI POLICE S. W. A. T." Interesting?
One thing is evident: if you are a prime anti-Fidel dissident in Cuba like Yoani Sanchez, and you have a government-issued passport to fly around the world seeking U.S. dollars, you fly to Miami and to Washington. Since 1959 anti-Fidel mania in the USA/Little Havana has created a vast array of Cuban-American MILLIONAIRES AND BILLIONAIRES. And even in Cuba if, like Yoani Sanchez, you promise to be fiercely anti-Fidel {even after he has died} you can rightfully expect to be FLYING HIGH on the backs of U. S. tax-dollars. And, yes...if you are a dissident in Cuba and you want Yankee dollars you first fly to Miami; if you are a dissident in Venezuela and you want a regime-change, you first fly to Miami. If this diverts U. S. tax-dollars from worthy U. S. causes and needs, so be it!! That's just the way it's been virtually since January 1, 1959. Just ask...Yoani Sanchez.
BUT IT'S STILL Fidel's Cuba.
President Obama visited Fidel's Cuba.
President Obama visited Fidel's Cuba.
When President Obama became the first U. S. President since 1928 to visit Cuba, he also became the first U. S. President since the 1950s to have the guts and decency to make this assurance to the Cuban people: "Cuba does not need to fear a threat from the United States."
But unfortunately, the democracy-loving Obama's presidency was sandwiched between two Republican presidents -- Bush and Trump -- and all Republican presidents are TOTALLY AND UNDENIABLEY CONTROLLED BY LITTLE HAVANA.
And speaking of Little Havana, on June 3rd-2019 NBC News used the above photo to illustrate another luxurious bar-restaurant opening up in Miami's version of Havana. It features an Earnest Hemingway theme of the Cuban capital as it was in the 1940's.
Miami's Little Havana...awash with old and new money, both controversial and non-controversial...welcomes tourist dollars but uses its over-sized financial and political clout atop Republican governments to try to block tourists from visiting Cuba and uses such things as Little Havana's bible, known as "Helm's Burton", to try to starve Cubans on the island.
Since 1996, decent democracy-loving Americans and Cuban-Americans have had a lot to say about Helms-Burton and how it became an indelible but genocidal-type American law. But the best sentence ever written about Helms-Burton was in a famous and easily GOGGLED New York Times Editorial. It included this indelible sentence: "There is, frankly, something indecent about vociferous exiles living safely in Miami prescribing more pain for their poorer cousins."
