Cuba Plans to Outlast Trump

For One+ Years Or For Five+ Years!!

      Although the demise of Revolutionary Cuba has been predicted almost daily since January 1, 1959, that prognostication got new adherents back in June-2019 when the Trump administration activated Title 3/Helms Burton, a starvation tactic that even the Batistiano-aligned George W. Bush presidency had considered too cruel to activate.

     Once Title 3/Helms Burton was activated against Cuba back in June, the USA's vast economic influence worldwide was considered by many, at long last, to be the final nail in Revolutionary Cuba's coffin. After all, Title 3 legalized the total blockade against the vulnerable island, forcing other nations to cooperate in blocking all imports and exports to-and-from Cuba as well as decimating the island's vital tourist industry. Of course, as written originally by Batistiano lawyers in 1996, Title 3/Helms Burton is also designed to create more Cuban-exile millionaires and billionaires by legalizing vast lawsuits in Batistiano-friendly U. S. courtrooms to benefit heirs of the supposedly honest Batista-Mafia dictatorship that ruled Cuba prior to the 1959 victory of the Cuban Revolution. 

      Indeed, the Trump administration expected little Cuba to surrender by now, especially after new reports from the island, starting in June-2019, began to reveal food shortages and energy blackouts in Cuba due to Title 3/Helms Burton. Yet, as indicated above, little Cuba screamed back that no United States "economico bloqueo" would usurp "nuestra dignidad." {"our dignity"}.

           And so far, for about the millionth time since 1959, the white dove bearing the Cuban flag of independence has somehow escaped the clutches of the Batistiano-directed United States, and the dove each time has flown safely back to the Caribbean's largest and most beautiful island, much to the chagrin of the  remnants of the former Batista-Mafia rulers still nestled securely and RICHLY on U. S., but not Cuban, soil. If Title 3/Helms Burton doesn't work, all sane and decent people HOPE the Trump administration will not consider nuking the island on behalf of the Counter Revolutionary extremists but, of course, one never knows what Trump might do.

       As far as is known, not a single decent American or Cuban-American approves the extreme genocidal cruelty of Title III/Helms Burton. Indeed, decent Americans like Peter Kornbluh at the Washington-based U. S. National Archives; Emily Mendrala at the Washington-based Center for Democracy in the Americas; and countless other decent folks have literally begged Little Havana's Marco Rubio to allow President Trump to "SUSPEND" in its entirety the insanity of Title III/Helms-Burton. But, of course, dating back to the 1950s the collective obsessions of a mere handful of Republican right-wingers aligned with a mere handful of Batistiano-Mafiosi extremists have been able to dictate America's Cuban policies, forcing the island nation to repeatedly adjust but to not surrender.

      In these first few days of August, 2019, Cuba has announced to the world its latest plan to survive President Trump and Title 3/Helms-Burton. The island has welcomed some brave help from the Russian, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Japanese governments, but it seeks vital new investments from nations closer to home. The AFP image above was used to illustrate an August 4-2019 article by BUSINESSDAY. It explained that Cuba has informed all potential investors of its total foreign debt, which it says is $18.2 billion that it is trying to keep paying off. Also, Cuba explained updated figures on how it is earning money to survive the Trump administration. For example, in 2018 Cuba earned $970 million from hotel and related services; $722 million from telecommunications; $600 million from transportation and support services, etc. Also, Cuba says its exports in 2018 totaled $14.5 billion, down from $18.6 billion in 2013; and its imports in 2018 totaled $12.6 billion, way down from $15.6 billion in 2013. BUSINESSDAY said that Cuba, for the first time, is revealing such statistics in order to try to convince foreign investors that the island is not only open for business but is also a safe investment even during the duration of the current Republican administration in Washington. Cuba insists it will survive the Little Havana-directed Republican presidency and await an Obama-like Democratic U. S. president.

    On August 4th-2019 the Foundation for Economic Education {FEE} used the graphic above in discussing the evils of Cuba's socialism compared to the wonders of Hong Kong's capitalism. Not discussed much is the wonders of socialism in, say, Norway, which has a far higher per capita income than the U. S. and, of course, a far safer and happier population. What if Cuba, like Norway and everyone else, had not suffered under brutal U. S. economic sanctions since 1962? Also, in July and August of 2019 massive anti-government demonstrations have inundated Hong Kong...not to mention that massive demonstrations in San Juan have just overturned the latest corrupt government on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico, which is a U. S. Territory with U. S. Citizens who receive billions of U. S. tax dollars and other aid to help out during national disasters like hurricanes. When Cuba suffers from similar disasters, the U. S. embargo blocks outside help from nations that otherwise would like to help.

     So, can little Cuba survive Helms-Burton's most genocidal provisions recently enacted for the first time by the latest Little Havana-directed Republican administration in Washington? Well...maybe or maybe not!! But one thing is sure: Cuba...is trying real hard to survive Trump while hoping someone like Obama claims the American presidency.

      Obama: "Cuba does not need to fear a threat from the United States." A sacred promise President Obama made on his historic visit to Cuba in 2016. It was a sincere quote by President Obama but Revolutionary Cuba, indeed, has been forced to fear a dire threat from all six Republican administrations since the 1950's. 

       But Donald Trump is the only U. S. Republican President that has: {1} Activated the genocidal starvation provisions of Title 3/Helms-Burton; and {2} he is the Republican President that quickly went to Little Havana in Miami and promised the few remaining April of 1961 Bay of Pigs attackers that their defeat will be avenged and Cuba will be returned to them during their lifetimes. In exchange, Trump believes Little Havana can again deliver him Florida's crucial 29 Electoral Votes heading into his 2020 re-election. For sure, since the Spanish-American War in Cuba in 1898, and especially since the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959, Cuba has said a lot more about the United States than it has said about Cuba itself. And I think we can all agree, WHAT IT SAYS is not pretty. The above photo is merely one of many things attesting to that basic fact.

     As a democracy-loving American, I was ashamed in October of 2016, the last year of the Obama presidency, when the entire world voted 191-to-0 at the United Nations to unanimously condemn the U. S. embargo of Cuba that has existed since 1962. And similarly, I am ashamed that billboards like the one above can inform the Cuban people that the embargo...Cubans call it a blockade...is by far the longest and cruelest economic embargo ever imposed by a strong nation against a much weaker nation. The words "EL GENOCIDIO" as used above means "THE GENOCIDE" and that, I believe, is a term that should shame the people in any powerful country...China, Russia, US, etc.

     This photo was taken in Cuba last week by Roberto Suarez and it shows Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel addressing Cubans in a televised speech. He used the word "genocide" to describe the Trump administration's activation of Title 3/Helms-Burton and then he explained what the Cuban government is trying to do to survive it. Cubans are well-educated and now they are very active on the Internet and the Social Media. A strong majority of Cubans support Diaz-Canel and they know him well as their former Education Minister. He was born after the triumph of the Revolution but he is a fierce supporter of it, as are most Cubans on the island. If that were not so, Revolutionary Cuba could never have survived all these decades. The Cuban narrative in the United States since 1959 starts with the premise that the Batista-Mafia dictatorship was a sweet, Mother Teresa-type government in Havana. And that's a lie. And furthermore, it hasn't been a sweet, Mother Teresa-type government on U. S. soil in Little Havana since 1959 either.

     As a top journalist for the London-based Reuters News Agency, Marc Frank has long been a great source of factual information from inside Cuba. His article this week graphically discussed how the Trump-Rubio activation of Helms-Burton Title 3, an extreme cruelty that even the George W. Bush presidency refused to activate, has harmed everyday Cubans on the island. Frank's incisive details about "the U. S. imposing sweeping controls on all state and private business as Cuba battles a deepening economic crisis and mounting U. S. sanctions" is information Americans should dial up because the mainstream U. S. media is basically afraid to challenge the Cuban narrative in the U. S. that is staunchly controlled by Counter Revolutionary extremists.

     On his Twitter page Marc Frank of Reuters posted the above photo to stress how Helms-Burton Title 3's extreme cruelty has suddenly brought new hardships to everyday Cubans on the island.

    Whether in book-form or in his regular articles for Reuters from the island, Marc Frank's revelations from behind the scenes in Havana should be must-reading for Americans, who routinely and sanctimoniously castigate large countries like Russia or China for allegedly harming innocent people in much smaller nations. Meanwhile, as July turned to August in 2019 the United States, on behalf of those Americans, is currently engaged in what can only be called "GENOCIDE" against 11.2 million Cubans on the nearby Caribbean island of Cuba.

     The best daily images of everyday life in Cuba now comes from photographer Roberto Suarez who owns Cuba en Fotos and, like most Cubans now, is very active on the Internet's Social Media pages and on the Internet's Search Engines like Google.

     Roberto Suarez this week posted this photo on his Facebook page. Most Cubans now are ubiquitous on the Internet's Social Media pages, enabling them to keep up with both domestic and foreign things that impact their daily lives. This photo shows Cuba's President Miguel Diaz-Canel discussing the Trump administration's expanded "genocide" against Cuban families. As you could see on Roberto Suarez's Facebook page, Diaz-Canel said: "The Trump-Rubio genocidal plan is to affect, even more than normal, the quality of life of the population, their progress and even their hopes, with the aim of hurting the Cuban families in their daily lives, in their basic needs, and while parallel accusing the Cuban government of ineffectiveness."

      This photo was taken on July 26th-2019 when President Diaz-Canel arrived in the far southeastern city of Bayamo to celebrate the island's NATIONAL REBELLION DAY. That date is officially enshrined, at least in Cuba, as the start of the Cuban Revolution on July 26th, 1953. It was the rebellion that, on Jan. 1-1959, chased the leaders of the US-backed, Mafia-backed Batista dictatorship to their sanctuary on U. S. soil, with Little Havana in nearby Miami becoming their new capital.

          Recapturing Cuba has since 1959 been a priority in Little Havana but the prime priority -- as when the Bististianos controlled BIG HAVANA back in the 1950's -- is now and always has been -- MONEY.....MONEY.....MONEY...MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      When the Batistianos were welcomed to Little Havana USA, the enormous amount of money raked out of Cuba by the Batista-Mafia dictators from 1952 till 1959 easily and quickly overwhelmed nearby Miami economically and politically. That's how Little Havana emerged as the Batistiano's new capital because the recapturing of the island, which was supposed to be a quick done-deal, dragged on and on -- into many decades -- despite economic and military help from the superpower U. S. government, which even overlooked extreme terrorism -- including the bombing of a civilian Cuban plane {Cubana Flight 455} that killed all on board; the car-bombing of a brave Cuban-American journalist in Miami {Emilio Milian} who had the courage to criticize the Batistiano/Mafiosi takeover of Miami; etc., etc., etc. And all the while from 1959 till today in August-2019, as in Batista's Cuba's from 1952 till 1959, the new and unchecked government on U. S. soil, headquartered in Little Havana, has stressed MONEY, including a steady stream of tax dollars, even over recapturing Cuba. AFTER All, once they owned Miami and virtually owned the Republican Party in a two-party political system, the Batistianos realized that the USA had a lot more MONEY ripe for the taking than the nearby island had or would ever have.

     With that accurate backdrop, in August of 2019 there is a way to keep abreast of the continuing MONEY rip-offs that have turned and ARE TURNING countless Cuban-American exiles from millionaires to Billionaires. America's top expert on Cuba, Tracey Eaton, also happens to be America's best and fairest journalist reporting on U.S.-Cuban relations, especially the obsession with MONEY rip-offs. Eaton, now also a beloved journalism Professor in Florida, regularly flies to Cuba and he is BY FAR America's best reporter on securing, via the Freedom of Information Act, exact Cuba-related MONEY transactions within the bowels of the U.       For example, once you dial up Cuba Money Project, read Tracey Eaton's June 26-2019 article entitled: "U.S. Plans New Satellite Service In Cuba." You will then discover only from Eaton that, starting on August 1, 2019, exactly $558,000 more tax dollars are being shelled out by the infamous Radio-TV Marti anti-Cuba propaganda machine in Miami to a Miami company named UNITED TELEPORTS INC. Starting this week that lucky company promised to distribute anti-Cuban "files and videos" to Cuba. As you read the precise details of that lucrative deal, please understand that everyone of the 535 members of the U. S. Congress, including yours if you are an American, knows exactly what Radio-TV Marti is. But let me refresh your memory if you have forgotten.

      Three decades ago a great investigative journalist at ABC News named Jeffrey Kofman filed a famous report entitled "The Broadcast to Nowhere." He informed Americans that Radio-TV Marti in Miami was a laughable money rip-off in Miami founded by the leader of the Cuba-born Counter Revolutionary exiles, Jorge Mas Canosa. Kofman in detail explained that Cuba easily blocked the anti-Castro broadcasts and, ANYWAY, that WASN'T its purpose. The purpose was to rake up tons of tax dollars in Washington and ship them in huge pipelines to selected Counter Revolutionaries and their enablers. Billions of dollars later, what Jeffrey Kofman revealed three decades ago is STILL TO THIS DAY BEING REVEALED in the exact same manner by another great investigative reporter, this time Tracey Eaton.

        No one questions Tracey Eaton's reputation as America's best journalist regarding U.S.-Cuban relations. Above are some of the media sources that depend on his reporting.

     As you can see above {at the bottom of the Front Page}, Florida's best newspaper, the Tampa Bay Times, at the start of August-2019 is currently highlighting six new articles about Cuba written by Tracey Eaton, including the one a few days ago headlined "Cruise Ban Sinks Cuban Businesses." Little Havana's MARCO RUBIO, in charge of the Trump administration's current genocide against the Cuban people, claims his renewed sanctions are aimed at Cuban leaders while, of course, they are aimed at tormenting, starving, and punishing everyday Cubans who had, prior to Trump, been decently treated by the braver and far more decent President Obama.

     According to Miami's Progreso Weekly Marco Rubio has a lying Pinocchio nose and uses "LANGUAGE OF DEMOCRACY TO SUBVERT DEMOCRACY." Perhaps, while genocide against innocent Cubans is being utilized in the name of America, it is time Americans are told what leading journalists in Rubio's hometown are saying.

     President Trump actually despises Marco Rubio and famously dismissed him as "Little Marco." So WHY has Trump anointed Rubio as America's Cuban dictator on U. S. soil? Trump believes, as in 2016, that Rubio and Little Havana can deliver him Florida's often decisive 29 Electoral Votes for his 2020 re-election. Americans since the 1950's have accepted such genocidal political tactics against totally innocent Cubans, and this generation of Americans is also, at the moment, meekly accepting Rubio as the USA's Cuban dictator just as a previous generation in the 1950's meekly accepted Batista and Lucky Luciano as the U.S.-backed dictators.

     For example...once anointed by Trump, Rubio chose his old mentor Tomas Regalado, the former Cuban-American mayor of Miami, as the NEW LEADER of the MONEY machine known as RADIO-TV MARTI in Miami. The Rubio-Regalado nexus is revealed in recent CUBA MONEY PROJECT articles by Tracey Eaton, and any American who reads the last ten or so such article will cringe, even cry, I believe in learning factually about the Batistiano underbelly that was chased out of Havana in 1959 only to quickly resurrect in Little Havana.

      In typical Batistiano fashion, Marco Rubio's appetite for MONEYburgers exceeds his Little Havana-fueled desire to recapture Cuba, but pretenses and lies and intimidation shields that fact and also hides the unconscionable punishment of totally innocent Cubans on the island. The well-funded genocidal Rubio byproduct of his MONEY obsession should not be allowed to continually torment innocent Cubans.

     And that's why President Trump's anointment of Marco Rubio as America's Cuban dictator SHOULD BE fully comprehended by the American people as a gross insult to Democracy and to America.

       Since 1952 when Republicans in the Eisenhower White House -- namely VP Richard Nixon, Secretary of State John Foster Dulles and CIA Director Allen Dulles -- sicced the Mafia on Cuba, decent and democracy-loving Americans -- such as Senator Patrick Leahy -- have strongly opposed the USA's thieving and genocidal policies related to Cuba. Since 1959, the year the Cuban Revolution kicked the Batista-Mafia dictators back to U. S. soil -- mostly to Miami and Newark -- right-wing Republicans teaming with Batistiano and Mafiosi exiles have tried mightily to recapture the Caribbean's largest island while, in doing so, engaging in terrorism, the military attack known as the Bay of Pigs, and genocidal assaults on the Cuban people powered by such things as an extremely cruel {but legal} economic embargo, which has existed since 1962. Senator Leahy has represented Vermont in the Senate since 1975 and  on Monday, July 29th, 2019 he continued his pursuit to bring decency and sanity to U.S.-Cuban relations. Yesterday Senator Leahy reintroduced a bill in the Senate entitled Freedom for Americans to Travel to Cuba Act of 2019. Senator Leahy Monday was joined by 45 Senate co-sponsors. Identical legislation was introduced in the House of Representatives by Jim McGovern of Massachusetts and Tom Emmer of Minnesota. Yet, as July turns to August in 2019, the Batistianos and their Republican sycophants have continued, decade after decade, to make a mockery of America's democracy while enriching and empowering themselves but, incredibly, still failing to use the unmatched economic and military power of the United States to recapture Cuba. And much to the chagrin of decent Americans like Senator Leahy, the current Trump administration has given a handful of anti-Cuban extremists and benefactors -- Rubio, the Diaz-Balart brothers, Claver-Carone, Bolton, and Abrams -- the power to enact, on behalf of all Americans, cruel economic and military genocidal sanctions against totally innocent Cubans on the island. Decent Americans, like Senator Leahy, believe that...if any sanctions by a powerful nation against a weaker nation become necessary, THEY SHOULD BE ENACTED BY THE COLLECTIVE WISDOM OF DECENT AMERICANS, not by a handful of self-serving, right-wing rogues.

       One of the decent, democracy-loving Americans who fights daily to normalize relations between Cuba and the United States is Emily Mendrala, the Executive Director of the Washington-based Center for Democracy in the Americas. Regarding the latest attempt this week by Senator Leahy and others to cut into the Batistiano-directed Cuban policies of the Trump administration, Emily Mendrala released this statement: "The Freedom to Travel to Cuba Act of 2019 would allow Americans to directly engage with the Cuban people, especially with Cuba's growing private sector. It is time we move past the antiquated laws and policies that have too long divided the U. S. and Cuban people to the detriment of both." Having worked brilliantly both inside and outside the U. S. government as a true Cuban expert, Emily Mendrala's sheer decency and unique knowledge render her the last person right-wing Republicans want to have input regarding Cuban policies. Instead, in that milieu, the Trump administration only allows Counter Revolutionary extremists such as Marco Rubio, the Diaz-Balart brothers, Mauricio Claver-Carone, John Bolton, Elliott Abrams, and MIKE POMPEO to dictate America's Cuban policies.

     The above AP photo should...but won't...alert Americans to the most egregious ongoing acts of the Trump administration -- and that's the current genocide being conducted from Miami and Washington against the innocent Cuban people on the island to appease the non-innocent Cuban extremists in Little Havana, a sector of Miami that has dictated the Republican Party's right-wing greed and mayhem related to Cuba since the 1950s. This photo shows U. S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo a few days ago...on July 26, 2019...making yet another genocidal declaration against Cuba on behalf of President Trump...and thus ON BEHALF of America's 325 million intimidated or propagandized people. Instead of addressing urgent threats or concerns of Americans, Pompeo above was declaring that Cubans could expect "Further sanctions!!" Assuming the American people are too ignorant or too afraid to object, Pompeo repeatedly threatens Cubans on the island with "further sanctions" to keep Little Havana denizens like Marco Rubio and the Diaz-Balart brothers HAPPY. Of course, Pompeo and the other right-wing thugs in charge of Cuban torture HAVE ALREADY imposed genocidal starvation actions against Cuba's everyday children, women, and men.

    Although even the mainstream U. S. media that spends most of its time trying to impeach Trump is too afraid to say so, this photo represents the prime reason Trump, indeed, should be impeached or at least voted out of office in the 2020 election. It shows one of his trips to Little Havana in Miami in which he promised Miami's Counter Revolutionary extremists everything they wanted -- and what they want is to recapture Cuba while, in the meantime, continuing to rake in incredible amounts of tax dollars and Executive Actions related to enriching themselves and destroying Revolutionary Cuba once and for all. The bald-headed and bald-faced man standing directly over Trump is extreme Batistiano sycophant Rick Scott who is flanked on his left by Little Havana stalwart Marco Rubio and on his right by another Little Havana stalwart Mario Diaz-Balart, son of a former key Minister in the Batista dictatorship. The moral of the ABOVE PHOTO is this: A U. S. democracy and a mainstream U. S. media that doesn't have the strength to properly process this domestic image to the American people is far more dangerous to America than the combined FOREIGN challenges represented by Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran.

     Since 1962 the United States has imposed history's all-time longest and cruelest economic embargo that has ever targeted a population in a much smaller and weaker nation by a large, powerful nation. From 1962 till today in 2019 the embargo has sated the greedy, revengeful appetites of two generations of extremist exiles who fled the brutal U.S.-backed Batista-Mafia dictatorship in January of 1959 after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution. Scared, propagandized Americans have successfully been programmed not to be embarrassed by the above international image...nor by such things as the 191-to-0 condemnation of the embargo in the worldwide vote in the UN in 2016, the last year of the decent Obama administration.

    And Americans since 1996 have been too afraid or too ignorant to comprehend the meaning of the above image. In 1996 the most extreme Counter Revolutionaries in Little Havana...Canosa, the Diaz-Balarts, Ros-Lehtinen, etc...rammed through the U. S. Congress the infamous Helms-Burton Act. It had and has TWO PURPOSES: {1} To create millionaires and billionaires among selected Little Havana leaders; and {2} to so severely punish Cubans on the island that they would be forced to rise up and overthrow their revolutionary government and accept a return of the Batistiano-Mafiosi element that had brutalized and ransacked the island from 1952 till 1959. The first purpose of Helms-Burton, GREED, has been realized. But, incredibly, its second goal remains a work-in-progress because, obviously, there have been...for all these decades...enough Cubans on the island who know or remember the Batistiano-Mafiosi rule from long ago -- 1952 till 1959. While Americans have been forced to accept Helms-Burton, only since June of 2019 -- last month...has the Little Havana bible, as shown above, had the skull attached to it...and for a damn good reason!! In June of 2019 the Trump Batistianos enacted Helms-Burton Title 3, which even the Batistiano-aligned George W. Bush presidency refused to enact because of its extreme cruelty and greed. The image below shows that the Trump Batistianos are currently stirring a boiling pot of Helms-Burton Title 3 extremes.

      As referenced by the above graphic, when a handful of self-serving Batistiano-Republican right-wing rogues can write and legalize their own lucrative but genocidal American laws, and then keep HEATING AND STIRRING THEM UP decade after decade, perhaps the Batistiano-Mafiosi exiles are doing much more harm to America than to Cuba. And as referenced above, the long-standing and immovable Helms-Burton Act, which legalizes enormous wealth for a handful of shady Cuban extremists in the U. S. while exacting  GENOCIDAL PUNISHMENT for innocent Cubans in Cuba, is quite flagrantly the cruelest and most anti-democratic legislation ever associated with the United States of America. And even with great men like Senator Leahy and great women like Emily Mendrala, the heralded U. S. democracy is simply not strong enough to deal with the sickening image displayed by the above graphic. To stir up the above genocide related to Cuba, note in the above graphic that the Batistiano-directed U.      On his frequent trips to Cuba, Senator Patrick Leahy always met with Cardinal Jaime Ortega, who died at age 83 in Havana on July 26th, 2019. On his Senate website Mr. Leahy posted the above photo of his last meeting with the beloved Cardinal Ortega, a man who fought every day from the 1950s till the day he died to normalize relations between Cuba and the United States. While there are many other great Americans and Cubans like Senator Leahy and Cardinal Ortega, it remains true that a mere handful of greedy, non-great individuals can dictate, decade AFTER decade, America's egregious and genocidal Cuban policies.

Russia Military To Aid Cuba

Promise Made In Havana This Week!!

        Russia's powerful Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Havana this week and, perhaps for the first time, stated that Russia will use its military to keep the Trump administration from "destroying the Cuban people." Here are his exact words at the above news conference:

                "We shall fully support Cuba's people not only politically, not only by means of developing military-technical cooperation, but also through trade and economic projects to help the country's economy become more resistant to all kinds of external threats. Washington's neocolonialization is unacceptable and its economic coercion, as everyone knows, is unlawful and criminal. Sanctimonious Americans sometimes accuse us of picking on small nations for economic and political reasons but the Trump White House has established the record for such behavior. The Cubans won their Revolution against U.S.-supported criminals...and their tenacity to protect it since 1959 is worth our support. Military? If it comes to that."

      The extremely strong words by Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov were later conveyed directly to Cuba's President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

      It is believed that Sergei Lavrov's declaration in Havana this week is Russia's most pertinent vow to defend Cuba since...well, since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis that pitted the Soviet Union against the United States in what evolved into the closest the world has ever come to a nuclear holocaust. Russia today cannot come close to matching the USA's economy but its nuclear arsenal is a different dynamic altogether...and it is hoped the anti-Cuban zealots in the Trump administration fully comprehend that fact.

     Even as Sergei Lavrov was in Havana this week, President Trump's two top Foreign Affairs advisers -- National Security Adviser John Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo -- were making additional threats against Cuba. They were threatening even more "sanctions" against the island, which is interesting considering that, after the activation of Helms-Burton Title 3, the U. S. is already engaging in the harshest and longest genocidal sanctions ever imposed by a powerful nation against a much weaker nation. But even the George W. Bush presidency thought Title 3 was too extreme and cruel to impose on the Cuban people. Yet, Bolton and Pompeo are famed longtime war-mongers against Cuba and they obviously relish the power Trump has given them to destroy revolutionary Cuba and give it back to the Republican-allied Little Havana zealots in Miami and in the U. S. Congress. Will Bolton and Pompeo go to war against Russia to fulfill their Cuban zeal? Incredibly, that may be what is happening.

      Meanwhile, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel yesterday -- July 26th, 2019 -- was almost 500 miles southeast of Havana in the city of Bayamo. As this Roberto Suarez photo shows, Diaz-Canel and his wife Lis arrived in Bayamo to lead the celebration of National Rebellion Day. July 26th, 1953, was the official start of the Cuban Revolution in the Bayamo-Sierra Maestra region of Cuba and the anniversary each year  is lavishly celebrated because of the astounding rebel victory over the U.S.-backed Batista-Mafia dictatorship on January 1, 1959.

     President Diaz-Canel was warmly received in Bayamo yesterday. He was born after the triumph of the Revolution and is best known in Cuba as the island's former Education Minister. Several times while mingling with Cubans in Bayamo, Diaz-Canel made this statement:  "I am clear that today I speak in the name of the grateful." He was expressing the gratitude for the rebels who began the revolution on July 26, 1953, and those who continued to lead it to a successful conclusion on January 1, 1959. Then Diaz-Canel released this official statement: "Washington is trying to cut off electricity and water, and even food in cruel extraterritorial acts of blockage. Today they are trying with all possible means to prevent tankers from docking in Cuban ports, brutally threatening shipping companies, governments of many countries, and all sorts of companies that have or might do business with us. They scare nations where ships are registered, and insurance companies. We must survive these enemies that are intent on destroying us and suffocating us. In their democracy, a few can do this backed by a scared Congress and evil president who is directed by greedy, revengeful, and evil people. When the majority United States population is scared to intervene, it leaves us with no choice but to do all we can to both survive and protect our sovereignty. Those who fought for our independence, especially those who won in 1959, deserve that from us on this historic anniversary day and the days to come in our sacred homeland."
